I feel like a slacker for not being able to maintain optimal play for more than like an hour of 12-18 tabling, and I usually need about 20 minutes between sessions to return with a clear head. Thus I'm unable to get in more than 6-7 hours a day without going nuts. I would otherwise have gone for Elite but wanted to focus on playing somewhat real poker instead of just being a points monkey and playing under suboptimal conditions while spewing chips.
I'm wondering how long the rest of you full-timers can focus for a session and what sorts of break schedules work for you. I really want to be able to get another hour or two of optimal poker in every day but can't seem to find the right balance for that.
i do one straight 6 hour session of 24tabling while watching tv. then i take a break and do another 4 hours. it helps for me to watch movies all day or news or other things on tv. i have a few snacks like gummi bears and several bottles of water so i never need to get up. during my break i will have a meal and do strecthes for my wrists to easy the pain carple tunnel. ive been doing this for the longest time so its pretty easy once u get used to it
2-3 hour sessions. Eat, take a walk outside, go somewhere in between. If I'm not feeling it or utterly sick of poker I just find some leisure. Averaging 6-7 hours/day.
I take a 10 minute break after 90 minutes of play.
My sessions are usually between 6-8 hours on normal nights. Nights that I go to class or something I usually only put in between 3-5 hours.
I don't hesitate to quit if I start to feel tired. I don't usually tilt but if I can't seem to shake something (usually when I tilt it's just compounding some other life issue that's already bothering me or something) I'll just take a quick break to let the tilt subside (3 or 4 minutes usually does it) and then I get back in the ring. I'm most prone to tilt when I'm tired e.g. never hesitating to quit when I start to get tired.
I play my sessions in 1000 hand blocks if I am 8 tabling full ring (2 hours) or 1200 hand blocks if I am 6 tabling 6max (2 hours)...how many sessions I play in a day depends on how I am feeling after each session..but I try to play 2 sessions minimum every day..
I usually play 12 tables for 7-8 hours (no breaks), but I'm weak. After the 7th or 8th hour, I start to get really tired/struggle to keep up with all my tables.
3 hrs, knock about about 40-50 sngs. call it a night.
I "try" to play two sessions of about 3.5 hours each day (~ 130-150 SNGs per day), but I suffer bad from lazyitus and quite often don't make the full 7 hours...
I think last year I averaged about 21 hours a week, so "trying" and "doing" don't quite equate to the same thing for me lol. This year I'm "trying" hard to play more and so far doing OK(-ish)...
2 x 3 hour sessions per day. One morning session, then lunch and gym or mindless computer games, then afternoon session. In each session I have a 5-10 minute break per hour, where I will do some weights/exercise. This gets the blood/adrenaline pumping and works wonders for clearing your head and getting peak concentration back. I highly advise this strategy, it works wonders.
I usually just play 3-5 hours with no breaks. After 5 hours I'm pretty much fried so that's it for the day. Unless I'm stuck, in which case I can go for as long as it takes. Of course that usually doesn't turn out very well.
2 3hour sessions 12 tables. I take a 3hour break in the middle and do something fun. If Im drinking I can 9 table for like 12 hours. As long as I still have beer and Im not to f'ed up.
"I usually play 12 tables for 7-8 hours (no breaks), but I'm weak"
Dont sell yourself short, your a monster compared to me lol.Id play long sessions like that when i first started, but those days are long gone.I play 2-3 hour sessions now.
2-3 hours generally because it's usually after I get home from work and eat some dinner. On weekends I occasionally do up to 6-10 but there's generally a break or 2 in there.
