Hey guys,
I withdrew a check from FTP and have received it. I live in Canada and use CIBC. Today I tried depositing, but the bank manager said they have never seen a check like this - it does not have a bank name/address, and the stamp is too low, so they denied it. They said it would cost me ~$25-$50 to send it to head office in Toronto to figure if the check is legit. I live in Vancouver fwiw.

Has anyone have similar problems? What the hell do I do?

Try a different bank? I would be outraged if it cost me money to prove my check is legit when I know it is. YOu can try and notify FT with the issue but banks giving you a hard time means you need a different account somewhere else.

Try a more obscure credit union....never had an issue with mine.

I think this would be similar to an American bank sending those checks for collection. I'm not really sure what that means, but I have heard of it happening and it can take a month or more. Perhaps some one with banking knowledge can chime in.

With that said, you should have just tried to deposit it into the ATM. Seems there are far less issues when people do that.
