Perhaps but we've seen tons of colluders/botters/hackers and what have you defend themselves to the last breath in an effort to smear FTP or Stars or get the word out. I still think we're much more likely to hear about these seizures than not.

In that case you are just not very bright.

Everyone advocating "nothing will go wrong, just initiate a withdrawal as per usual" are either wealthy to the point that $90k isn't that big of a deal to them or aren't seriously putting themselves in OP's shoes.

I'm not positive the fake documentation route is the best way but at least I'm willing to admit my lack of surety on the issue.

Edit: Regardless I sincerely hope OP updates this thread as more info comes in.

And after the kid gets his $100 or $200 on the site, one of two things will happen:

1. He'll donk off the money (most likely will happen) and doesn't redeposit or get another transfer for awhile because it's a pain in the ass.
2. He'll grind up a bankroll and keep building. (unlikely)

As long as he doesn't wanna withdraw while still under age, I don't see a problem with it. Kids are going to break rules and sh*t, it isn't that bad to play poker when you're under 18. Once he turns 18 he should be allowed to take his money wherever he wants.
trev,

i had home games when i was 12.

i don't have a moral issue here. i have an issue with the fact that underage gambling is a big piece of the objections of those that wish to ban online poker.

The point is though that there are only 2 options available to him:

  1. Attempt withdrawal legally and provide correct ID if asked.
  2. Attempt withdrawal by providing fraudulent documents or dumping funds to others.
Option 1 > Option 2. There have been countless cases of funds seized by attempting option 2 and countless cases where previously underage players have been allowed to continue once they reach 18.

You may be a bit worried but there is only one correct (and best) course of action.

The sites have to be serious about it because it just takes one dumb**** 16 year old to degen it up and lose a couple thousand and get busted by mommy and daddy, who he then tells how easy it was to get money online and play, to cause a big online poker backlash.

That said, I still think he has a better chance to be upfront about what's been done (if the site even questions him) than to pull some fake ID crap.

either do some thing stupid

or compose a well written email asking for help, telling most the truth, but leave out a few unimportant details

trades require transfers. the dilemma is the likelihood that the transfers may cause a security check and then he is at their mercy.

He's narrowed it to two options but to help protect identity a little I won't list them.

I look forward to your next thread then - "FTP stole my friend's money". At which point I would have to say "good, he deserves it".
