Usually when I'm playing a heads up match and my opponent gets disconnected, I kind of say tough luck and raise their blinds every hand. I was railing the $60,000 Guarantee on Full Tilt and when it was down to 3 handed, one of the players disconnected. Shortly after, a Full Tilt red pro, Trond Eidsvig, knocked out the 3rd player.

Now it's heads-up and Trond started raising the blinds. After about 3 or 4 hands, it looks like he's clicked the "Sit Out" button. For the past 10 minutes they've just been folding their blinds back and forth.

I think that's pretty cool of Trond to give the other player a chance to come back and play a fair match, but I can't say I'd do the same in his situation.

What would you do in Trond's shoes?

Too be honest...Its not my fault nor my problem to sit out because someone disconnects heads up....But I guess I'm an *******.

It is probably good sportsmanship to sit out and wait but not sitting out and not waiting isn't "wrong" I don't think..

happens to me all the time, if you know the guy have history then I would say wait ONLY if they would give you the same courtesy, however random unknown most people in the same shoes would just raise to keep stealing, imagine your opponent in your same shoes.

If I'm in an automobile race, do I stop when someone else breaks down?

Besides, you're both in a freeroll -- you get to win, and the other person probably gets their buyin back if they are a good customer and contact support.

I think the fact that Trond is a red pro may have influenced his decision to do the 'sportsmanlike' thing. I can't speak for Trond since I don't know him personally, but had he not been a representative of the site it wouldve been easier to just go ahead and speedclick minraise every hand.

Don't really know how relevant getting a buy-in refunded s relevant to heads up in a 60k mtt.

That was nice and all, but yeah, stealing blinds ftw.

The problem is the favor will not be returned when you are disconnected. So by doing the sportsman ship thing, you are losing equity in the tournament immediately and losing equity in tournaments you are disconnected against an unsportsmanshippy opponent.

I think the old saying applies, its wrong to let a sucker keep his money. And this time he is a sucker by having a bad internet connection; whether it is his fault or not.

Blind steal away imo.

Honestly either choice is fine and I would never criticize anyone for being nice or for being mercenary.
