Do you use your main bank acct for poker? Do you use your main bank acct for poker?

Being that the US now has laws against banks allowing poker transactions, how do you feel about using your main bank account for your poker account? I mean I use my bank for a lot and would be devastated if they closed my account due to gambling. Would it be better to set up a bank account you don't care about and use that instead? Or is that overly cautious?

tl;dr
use your main bank account for poker or funnel it through an account you don't care about being banned/closed?

Tons of banks in your town unless you live in the boonies...if they close your acct, phuck them...they don't need your business anyway.

A friend of mine used to work in the compliance dept of a large bank. He said they didn't really care about online gambling transactions. They were more concerned with real crime like money laundering.

Yeah but I have all my bill pay set up through them, direct deposit, investments, etc. It would suck balls.

Use separate bank accounts. Poker site > random throwaway bank account > your main bank account, is the correct way to deal with cashouts/deposits IMO.
Best to have this set-up so you won't even be slightly inconvenienced if a bank decided to f with you over poker.

I have other accounts open, but I use my main account for poker. The reason why is because I only use my bank to receive poker money. I never have heard of anyone having their account closed for only accepting money; it's usually, "Oh, sorry. I didn't know that. I won't do that again." and then start using one of my dormant accounts to receive money. Rinse and repeat.

So how do you fund your poker account? Even as a winning player it's still necessary to make deposits in cases such as on PS for eChecks which disallows withdrawals if no deposits have been made in a while.

And in this case on PS I guess it would have to be through the same account per rules.

I use wires to receive my money, which do not have that requirement.

I have had several accounts closed for receiving money aka "suspicious activity."

Several? What are you doing to cause suspicion? Did they ask you questions which led you to understand what they suspect you are doing?

By several I mean 3.

Wires to/from Central America, depositing Canadian checks, frequent requests for cashier's checks, excessive ATM usage...those aren't an average customer's transactions.

Never any questions, always just a letter in the mail saying someone had looked at my account, the activity was suspicious and they were terminating my account effective x date.

Agreed, but that's quite a bit more than just receiving money from a poker site, and no doubt they filed few SARs on you.
