Bovada refunded a check that I had already cashed???? Bovada refunded a check that I had already cashed????

I requested a payout from Bovada for $200 early Febuary. 2 days ago I got an email saying that due to a 'printing error', the amount I requested would be refunded. Along with this, I got $200 automatically deposited in my account.

When I got the check in early Febuary, I cashed it in my BANK for CASH MONEY. This was several weeks before I got my refund. I called Bovada, thinking that this was fishy. 2 days have passed and I have had to call again to get them on it.

Now I get a message in my Bovada account saying:

Dear Mr. Noorzad Account: 10400369 The payment will be reversed from your account. Leave sufficient funds within your account to cover the check amount to avoid any overdraft fees. Should you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us. Best Regards, Bovada Customer Service service@bovada.lv 1-888-263-0000

Has this happened to anyone before?????

I have not spent the $200. How could Bovada be so sloppy about something like this when it would cost them $200??

So weird. I am so angry that they would even be thinking about charging me overdraft fees if they had caught onto their mistake and I had used the money they 'refunded' me.

It would be your bank that would charge you overdraft fees, not them - they would have no control over this.

Also, the edit button is your friend.

It has happened before. It's part of doing business in today's environment in 'merica.

What they are telling you is that the check is going to bounce so you should leave enough money in your bank account to cover the check amount.

Checks from poker sites should be deposited first and you should wait for them to clear before using the funds.

3rd party processors experiences issues like these.

Bovada did an A+ job at being proactive about your situation.

I suggest going to your bank and telling them an issue occurred with the check and it will bounce.. Ask them what will happen and what fees are going to be included with the bounced check.

Bovada "should" refund you your fees as well.

How to know when funds clear?

When I deposit my bovada checks at BEE OH AYE bank, the funds are usually available within a day. I just had a bovada check be returned/reversed for the first time, setting my bank account into the negative. This happened 2-2.5 weeks after I deposited it.

Your bank will usually make the funds available right away if it is a small about. The check usually wont clear for 2-4 weeks if it is foreign. The money in your account is essentially a loan from the bank until the check clears. So if you spend or withdraw the money before the check clears and it bounces. You will get charged fees if you end up in the red and maybe some for the bounced check also.
