Clearly he was able to identify who I was regardless of me having no name attached to my seat. Please explain this.
He is likely likely quitting you cause you are being a scumbag. He is trying to make a cut and you being a bleep.
I don't play nl. I play some 5/10 limit huhu which has a similar rake structure to 1/2 nl. At such a steep rake point being a little better than someone is not enough as your edge will get eaten up by the rake.
So he is being a really nice guy by quitting you cause he's saving himself money to the rake and you even more money cause the fact that you don't understand these concepts makes him a stronger player than you.
The rake is less of a factor at the highest limits and u will see anyone will play you up there for that reason.
It's 50 bucks to see 100 flops in 5/10 flhhuhu. That's 5 bets b/t 2 people which is a lot of money considering flh winrates.
1-2 Nl is even worse.
He is detecting by your preflop combined with postflop play what type of player you are.
If you keep playing me for example I can easily detect people just by their buyins, postflop play, bet timing/use of autos.
The correct play is to punish the player who joined by playing an odd number of hands such as 7.
Then I will just sit there and wait for them to leave or steam in chat at which point I will get a quick 5 min cushion on new opponents and then regrim them if they come back after 5 minutes. If they try altering their buyins or playing the fist few hands 'weak' to 'cloak' themselves I will detect that in the following hands and they will lose even more by faking weak first few hands.
Just cause its anonymous tables doesn't mean I'm forced to play ALL opponents.
Against players like you I will get 4/7 of buttons providing me an immutable positional edge.
I'm actually surprised the guy chats and actually gives you a courtesy reason. I never chat and just wait for them to complain and then never say anything back like my chat is off.
Remember: no one is FORCED to play anyone and the penalty if u fail to recognize this in my games is 580/420 small blind/bb ratio.
Play the highest limits and I will never quit you though. I suspect you will find the same in NL.
So play higher , seed your own tables or play on another site

Reason: bleep added
