Earlier I posted trying to get ~8k off Lock in exchange for Wire, Chase QP or cash deposit. I was PM'ed by aba20 (as far as I know this is Brian Townsends 2p2 account). He said he wanted to buy up to 50k and asked for my Skype. Shortly after this evening he added me on skype under the account name "b_town15" and offered .75 without much discussion which made me question it a little, not to mention that his Skype pic was from him playing on poker after dark. I find it a little sketchy so ask him how I can confirm his identity and all he said was "you can google my twoplustwo name... aba20". I do this and obviously it appears to be his 2p2 name but I'm still not sold and ask him if he can just make a quick video call to prove his identity once and for all. His response was "um i dont have a webcam here", I follow up asking him to facetime or download the skype app on his smartphone then he tells me "I have a cricket, jk blackberry." Lastly I just asked him to give me a call and he said "sorry i am busy right now, can do it later."

I just wanted to post this to let everyone know that aba20's 2p2 account may have been compromised and seems as though someone may be trying to scam. Will post the Skype convo shortly.

You should PM a mod, maybe they can delete this thread before he sees it and you can try to find out who he is, get his IP address from skype, etc.

I talked with the real Brian Townsend and talked with 2p2 and they banned the account aba20. He is working to regain control of his 2p2 eventually.

Ok the scammer just told me "You are going to have a real bad week." Obviously he knows my name but without clicking any links or anything are there precautions I should be taking? If Brian or 2p2 needs any info from me I'll be more thank willing to assist.

I don't know, maybe make sure you don't use the same passwords across different sites, etc.

Maybe you should strengthen your passwords as well.

I use KeePass to generate and store random passwords for me, and just copy and paste them whenever I sign in somewhere.

There was a thread in nvg about an idiot who wired a sum of money to the wrong person and after he refused to return it, he went to his house and ratted him out to his mother and she gave him his money back. Of course that thread was filled with instant fan boys virtually applauding the guy when it was actually his fault and didn't deserve 1 cent back.

Needless to say if they where in OP's shoes they would have probably transfered their net worth over to the hacker and offered a bonus foot massage.

Yes, extremely well-handled by OP. Good advice also given for OP to PM a mod (perhaps he already had, IDK), or another (and perhaps better) alternative would be to report your post after making it - that way all mods of the forum automatically get an email.

And yes, as mentioned, the aba20 account has been banned permanently, although the account could be reinstated if the original account owner can provide satisfactory proof of identity.
