fyi, the penalties for a person who "cheat[s] at a gambling game" in Nevada:


NRS 465.088 Penalties for violation of NRS 465.070 to 465.085, inclusive.

1. A person who violates any provision of NRS 465.070 to 465.085, inclusive, is guilty of a category B felony and shall be punished:

(a) For the first offense, by imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 6 years, or by a fine of not more than $10,000, or by both fine and imprisonment.

(b) For a second or subsequent violation of any of these provisions, by imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 6 years, and may be further punished by a fine of not more than $10,000. The court shall not suspend a sentence of imprisonment imposed pursuant to this paragraph, or grant probation to the person convicted.


It's unclear what recourse the casino has to recover funds won by cheating. But nonetheless I think losing $50k is far preferable to being a convicted felon and serving a year or more in prison.

Softplaying in cashgames and softplaying in sit and goes its totally different.

In a cash game other players are rarely hurt by two people softplaying eachother.

In a sit and go, two players softplaying eachother gives each of them a HUDGE edge over the other players.

Softplaying on a bubble is the cash game equivalent of raising people out of the pot.

my point is they do not make u return your lifetime winnings from the casino.

say i build my online roll say to 500k from playing various poker games (ie holdem, omaha, stud), and i happen to dome some of what the op was doing with a friend sometimes at sitngoes holdem, if i get caught, i think losing my entire 500k is extreme.

what i think i notice from the rules is that a first offense is either 10k only or 10k plus jail or just jail. that means there is a possibility u only get fined 10k for getting caught cheating the first time.

IF you have 500k in your account, you'd better make DAMN sure your actions are above reproach. The consequences are clear. If you were to decide to cheat anyway, that's your choice to risk your account.

_UrMyFincalAid_ played 50-200 games per month in Jan, Feb, March of 2008. It played 650 in April and 495 in May. It played 204 in June, the last one being on June 23.

I loved when someone said earlier about "in the real world". That's the problem. I think because online poker is "borderline" legal/not legal in the states, the threat of real punishment for cheaters like this guy (JAIL time) doesn't really exist.
To me cheating is the same as stealing. Any form of cheating. I hope this guy gets busted again too.
