Yeah, good post koxx. I've never really thought about that before. I'm not sure if it discourages that many people, but it certainly punishes the first guy to sit down. Plus I've always thought it looks very messy.

I don't know if there's any plans to change the status quo but I'll certainly find out for you.

The rebuy-sit out bug still exists. Happened to me literally 2 minutes ago, the auto-rebuy still managed to trigger it.

FFS, if you're not gonna make the fish happy, let the software do it for you

not that i want to be involved in here any more (and it's my own fault to start with, i admit it), but, "good" software is more important to regs then the fish..

i'm out. i know i wont convince anyone of anything here because as they say, arguing over the internet is like running in special olympics. even if you win, you're still ******ed.

just for the closure. i dont mind the new regs. they are mostly pretty bad anyway.

Good news koxx, I've been told that when the big software update hits in the summer 6-max tables will have six seats only. Some of you may have known this already as Yuv mentioned it in the MSNL thread I believe.

Thank you, noted.

@ Jon G

Why are you not responding to questions regarding your vip system?

Hey there,

Firstly Pacific doesn't offer rakeback so comparing it to sites that do is pointless. You can only really compare it to sites that offer a similar points store like Stars and Party.

You are right that Stars has bigger % bonuses, but Stars is the largest site in the world and it would be frankly impossible to try and compete with them. Pacific doesn't stack up too badly against Party. Platinum is very achievable and 17% isn't so bad. Could it be better? Definitely.

I do agree that 2% at bronze is a joke and there's no reason why it couldn't start at 10% or so. Thanks for the post and I'll definitely pass it on.

Really, really well explained. And thanks for passing on the solution Yeti

Hey guys,

Gil emailed me today and expressed an interest in changing the welcome package that new players receive. You can see details of the current system here.

Anyway, we're turning to you for advice. What kind of stuff is going to attract new players? I assume they're looking for some original thoughts as opposed to 'give them a bigger deposit bonus' (although that is probably a valid suggestion also ).

I'm told any idea that is used will be rewarded, so hit me with your thoughts.

I have a few ideas:

Like i said before take 10 cents out of that $4 rake and create a site wide progressive jackpot. I've thought about it some more and I think the main jackpot should be something that goes rarely so that it builds into the millions of dollars. I think something like a $10 million dollar jackpot would generate a lot of buzz and excitement for the site. The main jackpot would only go if a spade royal beats a spade 10 high straight flush. You could also give away smaller bonuses from the jackpot pool for other bad beats, royals or whatever.

This next idea is a little more out there a quite a bit more risky: Do away with table selection as we know it. Instead of having players pick and choose which tables they want to wait at only let them get on a main waiting list per level and auto seat them. A lot of regs will hate this idea which just proves its good for the fish.

I have another idea for a new tourney structure but let me mull it over a bit more before I post it here.

The level of rb for bronze is actually more of an insult.

I would also ask when the online store is coming, its just that it has been coming soon for 2 years now. I have played 95% of my poker there since 2004 and so have plenty of points. I have visions of living like a king when it arrives

@ welcome package

Be upgraded to silver, gold, platinum for half the points in the first month after signing up...

Against the idea. As you propose it, would be fine except that no way would a site take the 10 cents out of the rake but ADD the it as an EXTRA. Don't need to pay more. There are jackpot tables.

A tourney ranking system could be cool. The top ranked players could get certain perks. Always have the ranked players sitting in seat one so that the ranked players won't face each other until the later stages. And show their rank to add a little more excitement for the fishies knowing their up against 888's top ranked tourney player.

Some suggestions.

1 Go back to the old way of clearing the first deposit bonus. I believe it was 25% to max of $100 but you get to use the $100 to play but cannot cash out until you clear it. I find it was one of the best deposit bonus when I first signup. Party wass almost as good.

2 Have the calling mucked hand in the HH. It would help to see mucked cards if collusion is suspected. Most sites have that feature. Even at the low limits at Pacifgic, I have seen stupid players collude on the open chat box.

3 Have prefer seating on the Classic table too and please don't ever get rid of the Classic table style.

3 Bonus and promo for existing player. Pacific was my #1 site but Party keeps giving me bonus/promo worth thousands $$ per year so I keep going over ther to play a ton. In over 7 years at Pacific, I got less than $100 total vs over $3500 at Party for 2009.

4 Rakeback???? or as least match Party for VIP rates.

5 Long shot but accepting US customer would be the biggest +EV for the site and players.

Really like the auto re-buy and up coming six seats only.

Wtf, have you never cashed them?

I don't think the starting levels matters at all. Most fish don't even know what rake is, they play 100-1000 hands on average, go bust, and leave. 1000 hands at NL200 generate around $100. There's little difference between $2 (2%) and $36 (36%), when you've just lost one $200 buyin or more.

It has already been implemented. Update your client, HEM, and get rid of the hand grabber.

Sweet, no posts all day then a ton in the last couple of hours

roy_miami - I like some of your ideas but they all involve absolutely enormous coding changes and as such I can't see any being implemented any time soon. Agree a BBJ would be neat though.

vbm - Agreed. I'll try to get a store opening time estimation for you tomorrow also.

Edmuntus - Really like this idea. Passing it on.

dad604 - Thanks for your post. Agree with most of your points and am forwarding them. For me the truest thing you said was about the bonuses for existing players. Personally speaking, I often get super lazy and get into a rut where I play no poker for weeks. A juicy deposit bonus turning up in my email always gets me coming back without fail. Glad you like the new features.

Yeh email everyone with a 888 account that hasn't played on it for say 3-6months and offer them bonus money or deposit bonuses or a free t-shirt or something, anything to get them back

I switched from 888 to LA, where I would have been one of the highest rakers on 888 and they have never tried to get me back. When I stopped playing at party I was offered $2000 bonuses, received multiple phone calls from them trying to get me back and they still contact me with bonus offers all the time...

Why don't you play there?

I feel that the shortstacking problem is really the biggest issue here. Since FT, PS, and cake, have raised the min buy-in I've seen a noticable increase in the amount of SS ratholers on pacific. You have to fight back and match the precedent set by the other sites, otherwise you are going to become a cesspool for the refugee shortstacks. They are making the games hugely unenjoyable for regs and fish alike and I really hope you can do something about it quickly.
04-14-2010 , 01:46 AM
Could you either have an option to hide the cashier in the main lobby or make it not auto-refresh? I really don't like seeing my account balance when I'm playing and atm I have to try to not look at it when opening new tables.

Thanks
