I had 6.5K in my Ultimate Bet account (had been transferred over from Green Tie) but I have used the account sparingly over the past few months (I've actually mostly only played freeroll games on Ultimate Bet). Today I logged into Ultimate Bet to play a freeroll for a bar poker league I'm in and found out my account is closed.

I called the Ultimate Bet security department and they told me my account was closed due to fraud because I was apparently playing at the same table with user pokerking918. I doubt that because I haven't played real money on Ultimate Bet in a few months (played a $2 private NL tournament a few months ago). I googled "pokerking918" and found the thread I reference above.

What's obviously worrying me is I asked them about the money in my account and they said there was currently $0 in the account. It's very possible my account was hacked as well. One of the people investigating my account called me back a few minutes ago and said he and his manager would be looking into it and call me back today or tomorrow. But as of right now they don't know what happened to the money in my account.

Does anyone have an idea of the chances of me recovering my money? Very frustrating situation though it is at least somewhat tempered (though not by much) by the fact that none of it was money I actually put into the account to begin with... I won it all. But wondering if Ultimate Bet reimburses in situations like this (I would hope so).

is the email account linked to your poker account a hotmail account? It is very important that you check to see if that email account was hacked, and if they tried to get into anything else.

Yes it is linked to a hotmail account. I don't see any obvious indication it was hacked but I assume some account must've been hacked into (whether it was my e-mail account, poker account, or both) to have happened what happened. But I will check the other accounts my hotmail account is linked to to see if they tried to access anything else, thanks.

Still trying to sort out the details of what happened here. According to the Ultimate Bet security department, my account was closed because it was "linked" with pokerking918 (as Ultimate Bet described it my account was playing at the same table with pokerking918 on at least one occassion and possibly money had been transferred between the accounts) and almost $6,500 is gone from my account. That is really all I know at this point, though Ultimate Bet is supposed to call me back today or tomorrow.

I had assumed that the guy hacked into my email account, and just stumbled upon my poker account from there. But since he hacked more than one account this way, there must be some connection. It looks like this was a more deliberate attack than I first thought. I'm wondering if it was linked to the recent hackings on stars and ftp as well.
