big letdown, these double guaruntee promos are always bollocks, they already rech 2x the guarantee, and esp with Stars' traffic there will never be an overlay.

Sucks for touney players who have yet to benefit from stars' 2x promo in any way comparable to cash game players in 2x VPPs

From July 7-13, PokerStars is doubling the guarantees on each of its regular guaranteed tournaments. That includes all the regular tournaments, the Daily Fifteen Grand, Daily Fifty Grand and the Nightly Hundred Grand! Not only that, but the Sunday Million and Sunday Warm-Up Will have double guarantees as well.

yeah. stars is a charity house. how selfless of them. i'm sure they don't do the promos to retain or build the customer base. they do it to give away $$ as part of their Make the World a Kinder Place outreach program.

i dont see ftp doing anything like this...of course they get money out of it, but so do all the gridners...the people they are making the money off of are "fishes"...just seems bad of people on here to be upset when stars is giving something back...

of course this is it. a lot of you guys hyped this up like a bunch of ******s. stars didn't really say anything except that they would be doing a different promo each week and they weren't going to announce them until the week started.

For the smaller-time players who like tourneys (there are thousands of them) this is a fun little promo that they will enjoy.

You be people complaining that this promo does nothing for you are dumb. There's a different promo EACH week for different players and games!! LDO.

And there's nothing wrong with waiting to announce each promo except for the contingent that overreacts so badly and thinks they are going to get another $10k for free or something and then whines and bitches that they didn't actually get their free $10k.


Geez...then there are the people who complain that double-points is so HORRIBLE!! It dragged the pot-avg down and it takes so much effort to put in all those hours!!! Do you guys have anything more you want to complain about that Stars is GIVING you?!?!

They double the guarantee which will double the number of entrants. Wow, what an amazing promotion. I'm completely blown away.

So who do we go for that free 10K then?

I get e-mails all the time from various sites like Prima or Doyle's or Poker4ever or True or any other site I've had an account at before offering some lame freeroll ticket for a $50 prize pool or something or some reload that I don't care about.
I don't go writing to them saying, "Your promos suck. That is worthless to me. Why do you even bother?!?!" And I think that many of you people essentially telling Stars something like that in this thread are pretty damn greedy.
Not every promo is going to designed for you. They have other players too. And they can't be giving away the store every single week anyway. I think the double-points promo is SOOO valuable for a player like me that I honestly can't believe they do it. That's how valuable it is and how much they are giving away.

Doubling the guarantees on the already big tourneys at Stars to pretty much ensure that a lot of these will have an overlay isn't really that bad a promo compared to stuff I get e-mails about all the time.

They'll be giving away their fair share this week too but a lot of that will be in the form of $3 at a time via some overlay for some smaller volume player who really likes his donkaments. And to repeat...in case you haven't noticed, Stars does tend to have an awful lot of donkament players and one assumes that they play those things because they actually LIKE them. I like them too sometimes...unfortunately they are pretty much a waste of time profit-wise compared to what I can earn on the cash-games (money and points) so I grind out the cash-games which perhaps aren't as much fun or exciting for me but those who do find the donkaments and bigger prize-pools more exciting will be digging it and Stars is trying different promos to appeal to their various players.

For the smaller scale player who isn't going to even make it to Supernova and perhaps doesn't care much about points or cash-games etc the promo the previous week was pretty worthless to them and they might like this one better. If it ruffles your feathers so much then too damn bad but Stars has every right to appeal to various segments of their player-base via juicing the prize-pool in certain tourneys or whatever else they feel like doing. And again, I think it's incredible that so many people are complaining so much about this.

I want to clarify I'm not complaining about anything related to the promo- I'm just dumb and don't know where I get my 10K from but that sounds pretty good iyam.

Yes, the week 2 promo sucks because I doubt there will be any significant overlay in any of the tournaments.

But that's not the point. If they had announced this promo right at the beginning I wouldn't be peeved at all. But throughout the week they called this thing "too good to announce" which is utterly ridiculous.

I just think it's really pathetic to whine and complain about a promo just because it's not good enough or doesn't really apply to you and the games you prefer to play.

As far as 'hyping it up': there was far more of that on 2+2 than there was on the Stars site. People here really reacted oddly to the language Stars chose to essentially say "more fun promos to be announced soon!!"

So my advice to Stars might be to change that type of language for the future don't see that and say "OMG. They said this promo would be great and this just didn't meet my definition of greatness that I hyped myself up to believe was coming. Therefore I must hunt down Scottyy and kill him and then never play at Stars again."

I'm going to guess the $2-million tourney and some of the others will have decent overlays even with increased participation.
Just GIVING away $500k to their players or whatever the total overlay for the week works out to isn't exactly pocket change.

It used to be that people around here would drool for all the different overlays out there. Some people still like them and still get turned on by "guaranteed prize-pools" etc even if you're not one of them.

I think this isn't it. There will be a kick in the tail come midnight.

Stars knows this promo isn't anywhere near as valuble to players as the first one so I doubt too good to announce is wording they would use. Stars wouldn't want to let the customer base down with that sort of wording. They were obviously trying to create hype (which they did) so i fully expect stars will live up to it.

I have a feeling reload may be coming too but they don't want to announce it until it is vaild to stop people withdrawing to redeposit for it. Reloads are always too good for stars to announce.

they didn't call this ANYTHING throughout the week. They made one statement like that. And anyone with two brain-cells should be able to figure out that the statement really didn't mean anything was just basically them saying "we'll have a different promo next week which we will announce later."

Seriously. Stars 'hyped' this week's promo LESS than many companies do in their marketing and advertising. But people in this forum went nutso with it because they were imagining free cars or something. Stars said one TYPICAL marketing type statement and people here went ******ed about it.
