Why are straddles allowed? Why are straddles allowed?

Most players suck at normal stack depths, even most of those who are decent at the shortstacked tourney-style game.

Cut the effective stack depth in half and you basically turn an ordinary cash game into a tournament.

A thinking player realizes a straddle is doubling the stakes. But a gambly tourney donk is more likely to think it gives him a better chance against patient regs.

If a cardroom doesn't let a donk straddle, he's more likely to realize he doesn't have much of a chance, and stop showing up. This is obviously bad for the room.
