Yesterday while flipping channels I accidently came across a show on ESPN called (brace yourselves) Hip Hop Holdem. Basically they took a bunch of what I am guessing are hip hop artists (never heard of any of them but that's not surprising since it's not something I am familair with) together and have them play poker.....badly. This is probably the worst and most boring poker show I ever saw. I lasted about a minute and a half before changing the channel (didn't even make it through one entire hand). Why would ESPN ever think this would be interesting????

Well I DID see this on ESPN and I really don't understand why you doubt it . Mind you this is not the one you get in the US, they have seperate channels with different broadcasting schedules for differet parts of the world.

And just to prove my point I typed up "Hip Hop Holdem" and "ESPN" on Google and came up with this:

Notice the program listed from 6am to 7am.

The original poster lived in Israel and was watching ESPN Israel.

Hip Hop Hold'em was aired or will soon air on ESPN Israel, ESPN Australia, ESPN New Zealand, ESPN Pacific Rim (Fiji, Tahiti, Solomon Islands, etc. in the South Pacific Ocean), and ESPN Latin America (Caribbean feed in English; Mexico, North, and South feeds in Spanish; Brazil feed in Portuguese) as part of Poker Night Presented by PartyPoker.net.

PartyPoker.net bought 60 hours of TV time on ESPN Inc's international networks in 2008. Within those 60 hours, PartyPoker.net basically emptied its vault by airing shows such as Late Night Poker Ace and Hip Hop Hold'em.

In 2009, I understand that another non-gambling, play-for-free online poker website (F---T---Poker.net) will buy 40 hours of TV time on ESPN Latin America (all 5 feeds).

Would love to know ESPN's reasoning for showing this overseas. Like the rest of the world needed another reason to believe all the stereotypes they've heard when it comes to African-Americans.

this is so old. This was like 2 years ago, but it was cool seeing rappers playing. Only a few of them have any idea what they were doing.

The opening theme and closing theme song is pretty tight. I like the beat a lot and with the girl singing in the background.

it kinda disappoints me that both of these shows are for charity tho, good for the charities I guess but it'd be better if they were playing for real money. more chance for Phil Ivey to get involved too (which would be HILARIOUS)

did anyone else see hip hop poker on tsn (canada) last night? TV guide said it was going to be that british midnight poker, so i don't know if it was affiliated.

anyway, the play was the worst i've ever seen by far. far far worse than celebrity poker (name??? phil gordon used to be host).. hip hop poker made celeb poker look like phil ivey vs. PA.
