Kind of a weird one, doesn’t really deserve its own thread but I found it entertaining.

Saw a weird one last saturday.

Two players are debating about what the ruling would be in a certain situation.

Player A said “well the floor would rule it this way.”

Player B said “I don’t care what the floor would rule, they should rule this way”

So player A calls the floorman over and says “hey floor, this guy says he doesn’t care about what you have to say! He doesn’t respect you!”

Player B now gets pissed and tells the other guy to **** off.

Player A then says “he just cursed at me!”

So floor walks player B off and then brings him back to the table with a warning not to talk to player A.

Player A is now dead silent because he got what he wanted. Player B is livid though and starts cursing at Player A as soon as the floor walks away. Then gets tossed out for the night and is yelling the whole way out the door.

The funny thing is that someone from that table table changed to our table and said that player A was instigating the whole time and they could barely get a hand in because of all the trouble he was causing. And it turned out there were two other people at my table that had table changed to get away from that guy.

Plus that’s a new one to me. Never seen a floor get called over because “this guy says he doesn’t care what the floor has to say!” Then to actually take the bait and start cursing at the guy is clearly stupid. Especially given a second chance with practically no penalty and messing it up.

Yes this is what I mean. I don't think anyone else at the table thought I was a bad person or was breaching etiquette. Just a cringey situation.

Right... No doubt I'd call, but there'd be a part of me tempted to toss him three black chips out of my pocket just so his first experience wouldn't be extremely negative. "OK, this one time is your do-over." Kind of like casinos give you one freeroll to get you to sign up for a card, expecting to make it back and then some.

(Then within 10 seconds I'd conclude that's being insulting, and I'd just say something empathetic and let it be.)

Not nearly as interesting, but once I see a a guy open-shove $200 or more at $1-2 from MP, I looked down at AA, and it held up. He had QQ and I guess didn't want to face tough decisions if an overcard flopped.

OMC on the phone for about an hour straight with pharmacy after pharmacy to try and get his Percocet prescription filled.

Shared full name and D.O.B. several times.

Did he tell you which pharmacy?

You need to either be well-known or have a valid ID to pick up a controlled substance from a pharmacy.

I'm not in this hand. It's 1/2. Guy who looks like a gnome has already had beef with several other people at the table.

Gnome guy is involved in a big pot and either underestimated the other players stack or he is just bad or both and bets $45 into a $200ish pot on the river.
The other player shoves for $57.

Gnome guy goes into the tank. As it goes past 1 minute since I started looking (which was probably 15 seconds or so into the tank) I can't take this idiocy any longer and call clock. Dealer starts the procedure to get a supervisor to run the clock out.

Gnome guy folds and starts berating me. The usual you're a bitch, let's play heads up for 5k, lets go outside, etc. He was an easy target so I start needling back pretty hard. Probably should have left well enough alone. He stacks up and leaves.

Was told this story today by an old-time California lowball player about a prank played on a guy that kept falling asleep in a player-dealt game ... and yes, the floorman was in on it.

When the guy was solidly asleep and snoring, they gave him a wheel, plus the joker (6 cards), and set the bets up so that it was capped (5 bets) to him. Then, woke him up and watched while he absorbed what he had, that he had too many cards and the frustration of how to get rid of one card.

Poker players can get rather evil at times

I saw a smaller scale version of that once. Supernit 3-bet preflop and everyone folded. The dealer took his hole cards, pushed them over to sleepy, then pounded the table in front of him to wake him up. He looked down at the cards and immediately started grabbing raising chips. It took him a minute to figure out why everyone was laughing and the dealer was trying to grab his cards.

Guy just doubled up through me with quads vs nut flush. He goes on the board for a $300 high hand. Ten minutes later security comes pulls him aside. I overhear he is being removed because earlier he was caught on video slamming a slots machine and breaking the display. As he's talking his high hand is beat on the board. Tough day.

Northern cal card room. Guy flops a set. Money goes in on the turn when the other guy hits a straight. Guy doesn’t fill up and gets stacked. guy is mumbling to himself etc, clearly on monkey tilt. A few minutes later a different hand with completely diff participants develops the same way. One guy flops a set, other guy hits a straight on turn, money goes in but this time the guy fills up. Guy with the set from the original hand gets up and starts yelling, security is slow to arrive, guy picks up his chair and slams it down on he table. **** goes everywhere, luckily nobody is hurt. Security finally arrives and guy is 86’d for life. Never seen someone do that off a hand they weren’t even in.

Saturday afternoon at my local card room I witnessed something I have never seen before (nothing too crazy). Older woman sitting next to me (maybe 55-65 y.o) and she has been drinking soda waters with lemon and limes for the session. She has two empty cups in two cup holders with the lime and the lemons still in them. As the session progresses I notice that periodically she would eat the entire lemon or lime wedge whole, like the rind and all.


That story is kinda gross, but it reminded me about the one time I went to Vegas and played at the Orleans a about 7 months ago, and there was a gentleman who must have been a Omaha Hi/Lo reg who while playing would apply vaseline to his back heel and feet while at the table and in between hands.....

I once witnessed a woman eating a slice of cheese at the poker table.
When it came time for her to act, she would place the cheese on the table's vinyl rail..... play her hand.... and then pick up the slice and continue eating!
I almost vomited on the rail (which I doubt would have stopped her)

probably would have been excited to have some dip for the cheese...

Sadly, that is neither weird, nor funny.

Taj in AC circa 2006. Anyone who played there around this time knows the s**t show this room could be. Women walks up to her husband at the poker table demanding he give her more money. He refuses. She says that if he doesn't give her money she's gonna pee herself right there at the table. ( shes wearing a skirt) He still refuses, and she makes good on her promise.

One of the reasons I love poker is because of the things playing it has exposed me to. I have met some of the most amazing people at a poker table. I have learned so much about the world playing poker. From talking to people from around the globe about circumstances in their homeland to people who have the craziest/most unique jobs. So many poker players are business owners that I have learned business things such as importing foreign cars into the U.S from Europe to a business that literally contracts with a city to clean out sewers. I have seen people meet and fall in love at a poker table. I can honestly say I am literally a better person because of poker.

However that also works in reverse. I have seen some of the worst of humanity because of poker. I have seen people openly steal or cheat their friends, even their spouses. I have seen people dragged down by drugs and addiction. I have literally seen someone harrass and ultimately get physically violent with someone else over $5.

It doesn't surprise me that someone would intentionally pee themselves to punish someone else at a poker table. Humanity can be great, but it can also really suck sometimes.

My first ever time playing poker in a casino was a learning experience for me. Prior I had only played online and home games. Where many of the unwritten rules were foreign to me. For example chopping the blinds. Online that wasn’t a thing. So I’m sitting at my first casino poker table and I’m on the SB. It folds to me and I have JJ. The BB asks if I want to chop. I had no idea what he was talking about so I just ignored him and said raise. He goes ballistic that I raised him and finally says I call. The flop comes all small cards and he starts in on me. “How do you like that, since you won’t chop, how do you like that”. He’s referring to the flop to which I’m thinking “I do kinda like that”. So I bet, he’s throws his cards in the muck and starts screaming that I’m a ass**le. The floor is called and security asks him to leave. All the while he’s threatening to find me one day. So that day I learned what chop meant.
