So every thursday and friday night I go to a local pub poker venue to have a few drinks and fart ass around. I only go because the venue is accross the road, and I'm generally there having a few coldies anyway.

Tonight there was a situation where I scooped the pot, even though I lost. I had AJss and he QJ. I raised PF he called. Flop 10 K 2 with two spades. Villain bets out a 2bb bet and I go all in. He umms and ahhs and eventually calls. River 8, turn A, none of them spades.

Now the board is reading 10 K 2 8 A and I get up to leave. As I'm walking away the people on the table, including villain tell me that I won the pot with a pair of aces. And as i get back to the table all the cards have been mucked and I just sit back down and continue to play. Should I have gave him the pot?

I eventually took the tournament for a nice little $500 ($10 BI)

Yes. You should have given the winning hand the pot.

Come on OP, you don't need us to tell you what you did was wrong.

Lol.

That was my "Combative Assumption". I'm in a foul mood today and am trying to err on the side of over censoring myself.

it's like watching someone drop $5 on the ground...picking it up and keeping it.

A mod should change the title to "OP takes down pot he didn't win" or something like that.

If both hands were tables then yes, you had an ethical obligation to speak up as to the winner.

Its more likely that you misread the board than for them all to misread it. Don't feel so guilty. Wait, if you really felt bad, why did you sit down? You cheater

Not even close to a weird or tough situation. If necessary, you go back and explain that the other player had a straight and that you lost.

The tough situation is that you have $500 sitting your pocket that you know you didn't earn and are feeling guilty about. You can't really hand it to the villain in this case because he wouldn't necessarily have won the tournament. My advice would be to donate it to favorite charity. If someone brings up this thread to you (many people read 2+2 and not all talk about it), you can at least say, "I know, I felt bad about it the next day and gave it to [blank]." I think most will be OK with that in the long run.

Besides, if you are playing with people who can't read a board, you're going to make a bunch of money off them anyway.

Final board was 10 K 2 8 A, and he really had a KQ. This means that you are just a jack off...

I dont think you should be so fast to give him the pot for the simple fact that the cards are no longer there. what if you made a mistake, and thought he had b'way when he didn't. maybe you were the one who miss took his jack for a king or something like that since also nobody else noticed it (u were drinkin ur coldies).

No one at the table noticed? You should NEVER lose this tournament

Last week I go to buy into my daily $45 local card room tourney. I give the lady a $50. She gives me my $5 change, except that it was actually another $50.

I didn't need anyone to tell me what I should do, nor did I have to come home and post a forum query...

And if you have to ask what I did, don't bother...

If this is your accounting, I'd like to do some business with you.

So how much blow does $50 buy these days?

Likewise. He intended to buy into a $45 tourney. Instead, he received his $50 back and still received the intended value (entry into tournament valued at $45). So okay, I'm wondering how he spent the "extra" $45.

If I go with $1500 in my pocket to Sam's Club to buy that big screen TV and for some reason, I leave with the big screen TV for free, yes, my accounting says I have an extra $1500

oddly enough, last night i'm playing in my little SNG home game. me and my brother are heads up with his extreme short stack at risk. He limps, I put him all in with A 6, he flipped up Q 9. flop comes 6 8 10, turn A, river, J. he picks up his cards and slams them on the board. i look at him and say "you pissed off about your straight?" two weeks ago he did the same thing with a flush, another guy was even scooping the chips as i said "hey, he has a flush". as you can see, we're all sharks at my house haha.
