Tipping Dealers Tipping Dealers

As a regular live 1-2 PL player, I have grown accustomed to tipping dealers when I win a hand. It doesnt seem much at the time, a euro here, two euro there. Yet over the last two years I have probably tipped close to two grand. Someone playing full time would probably be closer to five grand. Considering how much casinos make, and how most players are losers in the long run even without tipping, surely the casino should pay the dealers? Players already pay rake, tip floor staff extortionate prices (1 euro for a glass of tapwater). Why should we pay for dealers as well? Same applies to tournaments. Players are already losing money overall because the casino take some of the entry fee.

This thread is mainly aimed at european players, things are different in america. You tip anyone and everyone over there. In Ireland tipping is not nearly as common. Barstaff dont really get tips (trust me, I work in a bar, 3 euro tips is a good night), hairdressers, taxi drivers. Waitresses and lounge staff/drinks servers are the only people who regularly get good tips.

It probably sounds like I'm being miserly, but to a lot of break even players, tipping or not tipping would probably be the difference between a year of profit and a year in the red. Casinos make tons of money. Why cant they foot the bill?

mod note: I am locking this thread. We do allow discussion of tipping, but I see no reason to allow a discussion of "why do we have tipping." And to answer your question if the casinos did not have tipping for the dealers they would have to raise the rake to pay them, they aren't going to give up some of their profit to make it easier on the players.
