Things players do that suck for a dealer Things players do that suck for a dealer

I'm a dealer and burnt out. Most in my field are horrible at what they do and should be fired but I myself will toot my own horn and disclose that I am very good. I'm very fast, efficient, and rarely speak unless spoken too. The only people that see and appreciate this are thinking players that notice they get about 10 more hands per down when I'm there and that I would never say anything that might influence action... they make up about 5%. The other 95:

- Love to move the button around without telling anyone.
- Make me give them change so they can put their exact blind amount in rather than just use the bigger chip.
- Use me as their stalling tool by asking me questions they already know the answers to. "How much is the bet?" ... "it's, still, *****, three, dollars, sir."
- This ties into the above but it doesn't matter how clearly or loudly I state the amount, there are some that will Always say "how much?" directly afterwards. It... never... fails.
- Ask for a set up because the current one is unlucky
- Tell me that the small blind isn't out yet
- Hold onto their cards as insurance until the pot is pushed to them. I know that there are a few good players that do this too but... jesus. Come on. Its not like you're Not Gonna Get it!

to name a few.

sorry, felt like complaining. I need a new job.

I think this is not something to complain about.

Don't think you can complain in general when you're a dealer though.
Fish gonna fish & you should be prepared for ******s in your game.

Its very annoying. It messes up my rhythm, slows down the game and is unnecessary. Let go, you've won.

And why can't I complain? Poker players, and I say this being one myself, are an annoying, nitty, miserable crowd ftmp.

To some extent isn't it true that if everyone was like the 5% of smart, savvy, knowledgable players you mentioned, who know about hands/hr, are quietly destroying fish without talking, not complaining, etc... then the games wouldn't ever run and there'd be no dealer jobs? In essence don't you need these annoying fish/degen scum?

also +1 to getting a new job if you're that efficient and conscientious in your current one. you should be putting your talent to better use, or aiming to deal in elite high stakes games/televised events

Stop nitpicking, do your job & don't complain or find another job.
There will always be downsides to a job, no need to whine & make a thread about it though.

isn't it SOP to push the pot before taking the winning hand?

Dealers don't like it when I eat onion coated triple garlic chili hot dogs and sit next to them. They have to smell my epic farts all night.

I'm holding onto my cards until the dealer starts to push the pot my way, then I toss them into the muck.

Not sure how this holds anything up. I do it to ensure that someone isn't trying to angle, and it takes literally no extra time unless the dealer some how can't fathom this pretty simple concept. Person wins pot, you push them pot, then pick up the cards which are right in front of you anyway.

So if this bothers you, I'd say you're probably no where near as good a dealer as you think you are.

as others have already pointed out, this is totally standard. no one can angle, and you as a player cant make a mistake when another person ends up having cards that you thought folded. its not like getting the cards before you push the pot is speeding anything up. we just watch our asses because people make mistakes

you are not as good a dealer as you think.
the dealer is not there for the experienced/good players, he is there to reassure the fish.
it reassures the fish if the dealer helps them understand what is going on, tells them sizes of bets, and tells them it is their turn.

Dealers that sound pissy when they have to tell you the bet sizes always tilt the **** out of me. If it wouldn't slow down the game and make me a villain to the other players, I would love to just intentionally piss them off by pretending to be ******ed and like asking how much the chips were worth over and over. And then pretending not to understand and put in too much $ over and over. And when they throw the $ back I would say "oh I thought the red chip was worth $3.50!" and so on.

The dealer assists in reading hands, but players are responsible for holding onto their cards until the winner is declared.

A dealer posting his gripes in this forum is like a pizza delivery driver posting his gripes in a fine dining forum.

Isn't there some dealer forums you can go hang out in? I promise we won't go in there and post our bad beats.

You didn't have to quote on his post/thread?

#1 yes it was Somewhat stupidity for someone to post on an open forum all about poker playing/live play etc complaining about their bread and butter (the players)

#2 I will place a bet on majority of players who complain about dealers most likely wouldnt be able to stand the heat of the job for more than a week.

#3 As there probably are forums for dealers and such, but for you to come in on HIS thread and tell OP to go whine and post somewhere else... DId You REALLY consider it called for? You couldn't have just posted somewhere else yourself? Bahahahaha
