I'm not sure about the ruling here as I don't play tournaments very often. Also not sure if this belongs here, but I think that it does.

There are 3 players left in this donkfest.

I am BB, Button shoves and is called by SB. SB wins, knocking out the button.

Afterwards SB is given the button and I am BB for the second hand in a row?

I ask for the floor who says that this is correct.

Button moves clockwise.

Now that you mention it, yes it does move clockwise.

Thank you for the help.

When going from 3 handed to 2 handed the button goes to the most recent big blind.

Thanks. I couldn't believe that this happened. Seemed to be just so wrong to me.

Oh? that's interesting.. didn't know that. As well as going clockwise, I would've thought since SB has completed the cycle it's his turn, and the BB is just paying 1 SB extra anyway not a whole BB since he would've been the SB if button was not eliminated.

It just doesn't make sense that someone is ever BB twice. It was especially important in this donkament where both our Ms were less than 10.

El correcto. You don't have to be the BB twice. TDA rule #35.
Quote:
Button in Heads-Up: When heads-up the small blind is on the button and acts first. When beginning heads-up play the button may need to be adjusted to ensure that, no player takes the big blind twice in a row.
Thanks to this addition to the TDA rules last year I have an official reference I can point out when moronic TD's insist "big blind on the button." I had that argument several times in one room and the TD was quite positive I was on crack.

No, the Big Blind moves clockwise. The button USUALLY moves clockwise.

EDIT TO ADD: Back in the day, I was playing in a tournament on Pacific Poker (they still around?). Blinds are getting pricey, 500-1000. Almost-full table, only Seat 2 is empty.

Seat 1: Button
Seat 2: empty
Seat 3: SB
Seat 4: BB (me)

While the hand is being played, a player from a broken table is moved into our empty Seat 2.

Next hand,

Seat 2: Button (?)
Seat 3: SB (!)
Seat 4: BB (me, again!!!)

I guess they felt "The button moves clockwise."

I stopped playing their tournaments after that one.

Good correction. The button sometimes doesn't move when blinds bust out.
