Though it may be 2 days after that, I think these are the soft openings for the state.

Deleware Park in Wilmington Deleware is open now and semiclose.
Those above are test dates. It will be 2 days after so long as the casinos pass the test date that will be the public opening.

If ur coming from NYC, I assume you'll be headed west on rt.78 ? You're going to drive right in to the Sands in Bethlehem.

Also, Hollywood at Penn National in Grantville will be open July 13th. From Lancaster it's probably about 45 minutes or so. Not sure.

Press release on applicants vying for the remaining Category 3 license.

I assume Mason-Dixon Resorts, LP is the group wanting a casino near Gettysburg but anyone know what's the story on Penn Harris Gaming, LP in Mechanicsburg?

It's a group of private investors seeking to get the resort license for table games/up to 600 slots at a hotel west of Harrisburg. Not sure what the tables limit is for these resort/boutique casinos.

Is anyone Wikipedia savy? If so, what about adding a poker column here?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...n_Pennsylvania

And I don't follow all this that closely, what's the latest on Parx and tables games/poker? (That's 20 min for me, Chester is 40 min)

Lazy bastitch!

Parx is postponing their poker room until the fall (presumably, Sept), according to a dealer that I know.... that happens to play in my game.... you know, the one YOU used to be in, until you got too wimpy to drive.

edit- oops, should have checked the Parx thread first

A group wants to open a site in Wildcat territory? I guess Hollywood is "far" to the east of the 'Burg, but is there really that much of a player pool?

I've never taken it from NY, so I can't comment usefully, sorry. It's a two-lane highway, just like the turnpike.... not sure how much construction is going on up there.

I think its Harrahs to loose, they have several successful poker rooms throughout the us and have decent comps and rake. The real issue is location, chester has some of the highest crime rates for violence per person in the state. **** really does happen here every night that is usually drug or money realated so its going to be hard(and stupid) sitting $5/$10 or $10/$20 because you cant have $2,000-$6,000 or your seriously putting your life on the line, i know people who frequent the slots and carry guns, im sure the table and poker games will be no different. They will need to offer some serious security if they plan to host circuit events and draw top class players. But i am anxious to jump in because delaware park just doesnt sit right with me as of now, and im hopeing chester doesnt have the same effect. 7 more days until we find out!

I suppose that Harrah's has decent rake if your last name is Harrah.

I'm going with MS@PB as the premier Poker Room so far and here's why.

Here's what they had spread from what I could see.

10/20 NL 1 table Yes I said 10/20 No Limit!
10/20 Limit
5/5 NL I didn't see this table though so I may be wrong. I'm sure it will be spread.
2/4 limit (I don't really care about these tables. I think it should be 3/6-5/10 limit min.)
1/2 NL OBV
2/5 NL 3 to 5 tables at any given time.

For the most part really weak play. I saw one table with JJ QQ KK AA everyone All in Pre Flop. Surprising AA held even after the dealer might have burned too many cards and a big argument started. I think they reshuffled one and replayed the river card and it was the same result.

And here is the kicker. 4 dollar max rake. 2/5 NL and above are timed games @ 5 Dollar per half hour.

Comps: 1 Dollar Per hour
Waitresses : Mostly hot

Can any room in PA even come close to beating this?????

I'm not sure it would ever occur to me to take 76/PA turnpike to Lancaster from NYC. Since I live in NJ, I try to avoid the Jersey turnpike whenever possible, which I assume, is how you would go (NJTP all the way toward Philly and then 76/PA pike??)

You can pick up 78 near EWR, or directly from Holland and take that into to PA. Near Allentow, you'll pick up rt 222. I do that a couple times a year. No toll roads, shorter distance and a little faster... best of all, you avoid NJTP. The freeway will end and you'll go on a local road for about 20 miles but the ride is a million times better.

Besides, you'll get to stop at SANDS. Take a peek at google maps. good luck.

Thanks. I'll never go there. Harrah's, Parx and Del Park for me. Harrah's will be my No. 1 place as long as the smoking isn't too bad.

I think it will be either Chester or Parxx in Phila, whichever is going to make the bigger room. right now it looks like parx is gonna build that bigger room.

Minor point: Mohegan Sun @ PoconoDowns has electronic roulette tables in the room above the poker tables with only one zero.

Mohegan Sun @Pocono Downs has perhaps the worse location in relation to the big cities of any room in Pa.

It also has $4 max.rake, $1/hour comps for poker players.
The poker room is large, comfortable, well designed with room for expansion.
The staff is friendly and the manager knows how to run a room.

Can these qualities overcome location and make it #1 in Pa?

I don't see how unless the others flop. Why would I drive from Philly to play 4 hours when I can play 8 hours at Harrah's or Parx (or the Philly casinos if when they open)? Is the gas I'm going to use, the tolls I'm going to pay and the wear and tear on my 1998 car worth it? No. Will someone drive from Pittsburgh? No. Harrisburg? No. It's going to be people on vacation in the Poconos and who live in NE PA.
