Question re: St. Patricks Day in Vegas Question re: St. Patricks Day in Vegas

Hopefully a Vegas resident might be able to help me out here:

My girlfriend and I are booking a trip to Vegas for Saint Patricks Day 2009 (March 17th).I know this is a long way off,but we are travelling from Ireland and this requires a good bit of advance planning.

Paddy's Day falls on a Tuesday,my question is,do the celebrations take place on the Tuesday or the following Saturday?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

If anything in the States it would be the preceding Saturday. You will be able to find themed events Saturday March 14 and Tuesday March 17.

Also, hotels will likely start getting expensive on March 18 since the opening day of the NCAA mens basketball tournament is March 19, and that draws big crowds to Vegas.

Anyway, pretty much any day in Vegas is like a St Patrick celebration.

St. Paddy's day is a party no matter what day it falls on, at least on the east coast. Always record call-outs from work on 3/18. Don't know how Vegas does it; try a city search to find Irish Pubs in the area.

Not so much in the west except for green beer and Shamrock Shakes at McDonald's.

Ever consider coming to the East Coast? Spending a dat @ the parade in NYC and then renting a car or hoppin a bus/train to either Atlantic City or Foxwoods is a better way to celebrate St. Paddy's day itself, but I'm quick to admit that the overall vegas trip will be much more fun.
