I think we need the ruling.

Scroll up. Hand was live, guy was asked to leave (length of ban unclear).

This is a tough one, b/c where do you draw the line? I've seen people crumple cards a lot. So if he were to have simply bent a card, should his hand still be disqualified? Generally, every effort should be made to award the pot to the best hand. I would have asked the dealer if s/he could verify the cards came from his hand. If the answer is yes, I would have awarded him the pot, then given him a ban.

I dunno, I get nervous when cards are manipulated or spend time in the hands of a player instead of being on the table where they belong. It's not too hard to learn a little slight of hand illusions.

It isn't that hard to switch cards that are flat on the felt.

And if someone was going to pull a switch, why would they tear and toss the cards, or bounce them off the felt and onto the floor, or any of the bizarre happenings where people here have expressed fear that maybe someone is switching cards?

If I am going to do something like that, I quietly pull the switch, collect the pot, and hit the cage before someone notices two J are in the red deck.

Question: If you were going to pull of a sleight of hand trick to win a pot ...... do you think it would be the best fo ideas to tear up the cards...... thats great for an audience, but when you are actually cheating the idea is not to draw attention to what you are doing.

If the action is going to cause a ban or a hand to be dead, it should be enforced from the time the infraction occured.

I was surprised that some posters that normally want to keep hands alive longer than Terry Schiavo wanted to euthanize this one.
