Partial hand-reveals on the showdown Partial hand-reveals on the showdown

Came across a player doing this last night, and it was really annoying.

Whenever he's the first hand to show down, he'll either show one card (e.g. whatever he paired on the board) or announce his hand w/o showing the cards. If someone shows a better hand, he mucks.

The dealer kept telling him, "Show both cards", but annoyingly, the other players keep obliging him by showing him their better hands...

Lucky for him, he's a really terrible player, so nobody complains.

Is there a name for this? Would you do something about it, or just let him pull it off b/c he's a bad player?

What are you going to do about it? You can't grab his cards and flip them over.

Don't let things like this bother you at the table

Sadly, this is pretty standard for live play. People hate showing their weaker hands at showdown.

If he's such a terrible player, I would just continue to let him do it. It's not like you're missing out on some crucial information or anything by not seeing his hands.

And, the way I was trained, if he shows one card at showdown causing another player to muck, he has to show both cards. But YMMV

It's pretty annoying when experienced players do this because they're trying to get you to show first when they should have to show first by the rules. When fish do it and I think I have the best hand, I just show mine anyway to speed up the process.

If an experienced does this to me with a one-pair type hand for information purposes, i.e. showing an A on an A high board, I'll show my Ace only too and wait for him to show the other one.

I love these standoffs when I'm dealing.

You could kindly tell the player who pathalogically shows one first that he needs to show both cards at showdown

When this happens while I'm dealing I can always hear 'Dueling Banjos' playing in my head. It's really annoying. Have a little respect for the other players and properly table the hands so we can move on.

This is really insignificant compared to some other **** that happens. There is always something annoying going on to someone, hope this is the worst thing you see LOL
