Fast forward 9minutes into the video. Laak makes the sickest dead on read! If you look at Antonio's adams apple he even swallows when Phil tells him exactly what he has!!

I know these guys are like best friends & have prolly played thousands of hands with eachother & have tons of history but still, to narrow a guy to his EXACTLY hole cards is uber sick!!! How??????

He did the same last week on the Big Game during the Troy Howard. Except he wasn't in the hand but he did called out Scott Seiver's hole cards. Highly underrated player IMO.

yea but your opinion means nothing. so...

its nearly always luck to guess someones exact cards preflop, no matter who does it. laak didnt exactly guess it anyway, he said "KT or A9".

He raised 10k. He obviously had either a 10 in his hands or two cards that can add up to 10. KT and A9 being the most likely in that spot.

Obviously bet sizing tell.

When he raises 7700 he has pocket 7s. He's very transparent.

Sir, I would bet you every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Esfandiari's range here is always K10-A9 type hands. Laak is on tv talking ****e 140 hours per week. There's an expression I believe coined here in Ireland, when homes were made from clay and wattle that is quite apt.

"If you throw enough ****e at a wall, some of it will stick"

Stop assigning superpowers to Poker Pros, and celebrities in general. Look at the game for what it is. Use information to put villain on range of hands and react accordingly. Simples

Dude please!!! I dont disagree that you can certainly narrow down your opponents range by bet sizing & history. But speaking in absolutes like "always" is utterly asinine!

having googled asinine, i concur. Still it is Esfandiari ffs. Not exactly the Persian prince of balanced ranges.

Laak and Esfandiari both have bet sizing tells, and Antonio probably wouldn't have raised the same vs. anyone else. They've played each other a ton and have a good idea of what each other's bet sizes mean, so Antonio could have been metagaming Phil.

People on TV are always trying to impress viewers by trying to call out other people's hands, sometimes they're right and sometimes they're wrong. The most accurate person I've seen on TV is Esfandiari

It seems to have never occurred to anyone...
That this is ACTING.

It seems totally staged by 2 buddies...
Both 2 hardcore, professional hustlers...
Who haven't won a tournament since 2004...
To make Phil Laak look like a soul reader...
And his "acting" is not even convincing...
It's actually tragi-comedy to stoop this low.

That's why I rarely watch poker on TV anymore...
It's just another version of Pro Wresting...
Minus the "excitement" and showmanship.

Assigning superpowers? You read what I wrote. Exactly the opposite. What I was saying is that when Durrrrr makes a call it's always because he's the greatest player ever (in most people's minds) everyone else "it was luck". Only assingment of superpowers comes from Durrrrr lovers!

You guys are funny. Some serious nonsense in this thread.
However, I loved 10:05. I was all "Yes you are, damnit!"

It was a good read but there is a ton of luck in it.

The only thing Laak really read is that he probably wasn't hugely strong. The fact he picked K10 was just lucky.

If Laak was really good, he'd shove and force Antonio to fold KT.
