this might only be relevant to southern california 2+2ers because this story ran on a local news broadcast (but possibly got picked up by other markets). basically it was one of those 5 second ads for an upcoming news story (it ran during the commercial of another show on cbs2).

it said that some poker pros caught some poker cheats and it had a short clip of a hidden camera and they blurred out the guys face and he was doing something under the table (looked like switching cards or something)...did anyone see this? is the news clip online anywhere or even an article? havent been able to find it on google yet.

(the reason i wasnt able to watch the news broadcast to see the full story is because this commercial was during something i tivoed but didnt tivo the news which came on afterwards)

Moving cards to below the table is not allow in most respectable pokert games. They deserved to be cheated. Try that in a casino with your hand and it is dead.

At the home games I have played they made it a rule that the person to the right of the dealer had to cut. This way the dealer couldn't be accused of stacking the deck.

I was thinking this as well. Quite possible that they just kicked from their group the only person capable of spotting even common, obvious cheating... right as their game, its location, and the identities of several regular players in it appears on the news for every amateur (or better) cheat in the state to see. (Nevermind all of us non-cheaters who would play this particular game for slightly different reasons)

You have to wonder if they've even started cutting the deck since this incident. $700 a night buys a hell of a lot of cut cards. Then again, cut cards won't help if someone's denting/culling your copags and not a single person in the room knows it's possible to mark a plastic card.
