Earlier in the week playing 1/2 at a local cardroom. Older guy plays AK pretty terribly... bet/c flop, c/c turn, c/c river with AK high other guy had an overpair. Very next hand he limps, more limps then someone makes it 20. Fold fold, another guy shoves over the 20 for around 150 total. The old guy who lost with AK overcalled the shove for his entire remaining stack of about 100 and everyone else folds. Board runs out similar to QJ842, and before the guy who shoved could table his AK, the old guy instantly flips over 84o proudly saying "If I can't win with AK, I KNOW I can win with that!"

Sometimes it feels absurd when you get that feeling that *you're* going to be the one to snap off the guy on tilt and shove when you pick up AK an he doubles up with 84.

got c-raised allin in a 3bet HU pot on KQ9 2tone flop. only had like 100 behind and pot was like 350....i had AA. i say "king queen is good" he shows pocket eights...spikes an 8 on the river. i asked him why check-raised me there and he said "well sets have been hitting a lot whenever she deals"

couldn't tell if he was being ******ed or making a sick level.

On the other side of the coin, I jammed a set of 6s on the flop, for a slight overbet of the pot. Opponent studies me and says "You aren't the type to jam a flush draw, so I know my flush draw is safe." He calls his 109 on a K 6 3 board. Busts me obv.

Note, his thinking was factually true for this hand.

Tonite I got a good one, tourney blinds 150/300, most with stacks in the 4 to 7k range. Limp, limp. limp, limp, (lol) I'm in BB with AQo and happily shove for 3000 (total). everyone folds and one guy hems and haws, then calls off half his stack with 44. No worries, I flop an ace, turn 4. Dealer (who I am friendly with) turns to me as if "sorry", I laugh and start to stand up. At this point, board is AT64 rainbow. pocket four dude turns to me and says " hey, it aint over yet." Fairly standard, I inform him I am drawing dead as Ace would give him a boat. He says "no we could still chop" (ummmmm whaaaaa?)

I was playing 1/3 at Aria. This guy next to me who calls pre-flop with all kinds of rags tells me he loves playing Ace-rag because "if I hit 2-pair I take all the chips of AK/AQ".

A short while later I stack him with AK vs his A-rag on an ace-high board lol.

1/3, 1 limper, preflop raise to $25 on a straddle. 1 caller and 1 shove for like $130 or something. Straddler reshoves for just over $200. Gets back folds all the way around and we get shown 7's vs. KQ. K hits turn. After the hand, KQ asks if the other 2 had him preflop. He then goes on to say he didn't think 7's was that strong, "maybe an ace"

When I was cutting my teeth at poker back in 2003 or so I was playing 2-4 or 4-8 at Foxwoods. I had been talking to this jaded old man. We are kind of showing hands if the other is not in the hand with us etc.

So I fold in EP he then checks his hole cards lifts up AA and says "I never win with these ****ing things" and tosses them in the muck.

Oh yea, was at a "poker room" in NH. Worst lady I have ever played with in my life raises AA some guy cold calls w/ T2o and wins the pot somehow. She then starts to berate the guy about how he is bad and she would never call a raise with T2. Then she said "I mean if it was J2 I would understand, I would call a raise with J2 nut never T2."

"Flop is 2-2-A Turn 2 River 2. 2 Players after flop. Both check turn UTG bets on the river. UTG+1 stares down the guy who bet and says "you have the king don't you" Mucks his hand."

This has got to be a joke, I would not be able to contain my laughter and absolutely lose it at the table I can picture the guy starring at the other with the straightest face possible and saying, "you have the king don't you" LMFAO

I've seen people fold to a bet on the river when the board is the nuts. it happens to everyone occasionally. Maybe they just had other things on their mind

LOL was playing the $75 turbo Mega at the Rio yesterday. This thing has 10 minute levels, and pays out $525 prizes. Start with 3k chips, 25/50.

We're 8 handed, UTG+1 shoves 3750 at 600/1200/100. CO is wearing a WSOP circuit ring and has about 7k. We are probably down to 50 runners, paying 9. He tanks and then folds. I shove from SB with AT and UTG1 has A9. CO goes bananas because he mucked AJ. Someone asked why he folded and he's like "well the guy is early position!" Good point dude, gotta give guys with 3BBs in a superturbo mad respect for that early position pot sized preflop allin.

This qualifies as the most absurd poker thinking you've ever heard? I don't think this would have passed that mark for me after my third career hour of playing.

So this was one of the stupidest things I've heard someone say to me after winning a hand.

Playing 15/30 LHE I raise with QQ and get called by this asian guy. Flop comes A62 with one He check calls my bet. Obviously he doesn't have an A bc every player in this game c/raises with top pair. He check calls the turn another essential blank but a . He check raises the third club on the river and shows me QJ. Ok fair enough. But I say "really, runner runner". His response "I thought you had an A and I have nothing so I called" WTF? Isn't that the exact reason you fold the hand? lol

Now THAT'S the kind of *absurd* thinking we're looking for.

I can't fathom how that makes sense in his head.

So I'm playing the Venetian DSE yesterday and the guy on my left is a 2p2 guy I'm sure and we are muttering some lol live poker stories to each other (we are the 8 and 9 seats and not scaring the other people) and I tell him that one and he asks the same thing, and we have a good laugh. He busts, then after break, his seat gets filled by the one and only Canadian Superbomber himself. No super awesome Doug Lee stories, though he did toss in a brag about having been vacationing in Europe, then bluffed with AJ on a rag board, got looked up by AQ and made a comment about how when you get to a new table you have to see who the calling stations are, then bluffpunted off a 70k stack at 400/800 to the only guy who covered him.

Another in the spirit of the thread, was playing a STT satty at the V last night, guy opens for 125 at 25/50, I call A9dd on BTN, BB shoves for 1900, opener calls, I fold. BB has 55, opener AK. Flop comes Axxdd and another diamond comes. I say wow wish you woulda just called since I obv double up off AK dude. "Nah I cant just call with 5s there"

Very true sir. Between calling 75 into 325 to try and flop a set or mashing 38 bigs in pre with 55, you def took the right path.

Someone folding AJ to a 3BB shove an hour and a half from the money in a $75 tourney with ten minute levels seemed pretty ridiculous to me, esp given that he has at least a 5 figure cash to his name, especially using the 'early position' thing as justification. What exactly is the diff in 'early position' vs 'late position' range for someone with an M of 1 in a tourney getting 5 or 6 hands per blind level would you say? I would say they are both about the same "anything remotely playable", and I think AJ does OK against that range. Thx for the input tho!

Tonight semi early in a tourney, I raise early position w/ AK soooted. Flop comes QxQ9, I bet enough to commit me into the 6 way flop. After one person thinks on it for a minute, it gets folded around. The guy who thought about it after the hand said he folded QJ. ???, I even said, "no, way sir, I don't believe you" He goes on and responds with, "I put you on QJ," and then I say, "so you call w/ QJ and hit trips and fold, what exactly are you trying to hit sir?" He goes on to say, "you can be mad all you want because I folded to your AQ..."
