If she was 136 she probably misread the board cause she'd be blind.

I remember one night having a good time chatting with a woman at a table, and in between us was a fellow who was running bad and hating life. So anyway, the woman and I each mentioned our professions, and then we asked the guy in the middle what he did for a living. "I teach math" he droned "to a hundred nine-year olds". And we were like "damn dude, your students are old".

I don't really know if this falls under the right category but anyways, a friend of mine told me about a mutual friend (lets call him A) of ours who was playing €5/10nl during the EPT Barcelona two or three years ago. A is headsup on the river in a 3b pot holding 67 on a board of 45A-x-x (don't know the other cards) and somewhere along the hand A somehow unintentionally, don't ask me how but I guess they must have been seated next to each other, saw that the villain was holding 36. So he ends up on the river with 7 high oop knowing that the villain holds 6 high but here comes the funny part; on the river A fires a third barrell and villain snapships on him. My friend gets really mind-****ed but eventually folds (???) and when I asked him about it he said something along the line of "that would have been a really dick-move and I wouldn't wanna be that guy". I guess morally he has a point but he must be the only guy in the world that manages to lose a pot where he knows that villain has 6 high on the river.

That's why it's absurd thinking. It's one of the few posts in the entire thread that truly fits.

Honestly I think the guy figured it'd be obvious he knew the other player's cards, and got flustered. Most normal people are terrible liars and cheaters, especially on the spot. It's easy for us to forget that when we spend our time around gamblers and hustlers. Most absurd poker "thinking" you have heard in a live game?

Agreed. Provided the other player wasn't a complete idiot (in which case I snap them off with 7 high) I'd probably say what happened and offer to chop the pot.

I understand why he would fold, but don't understand why he didn't ship instead of firing a 3rd barrell. He left himself open to being bluffed out or blowing his cover.

The guy with 6 high saw his cards and knew he needed to bluff to beat 7 high. Just a great play.

Or maybe he has a conscience, unlike most degen scumbags

Ah yes, the conscience that had him firing a third barrel knowing Villain's cards. Way more likely than LowSociety's theory. Bravo.

is it possible he realized there was a slight chance he misread them, and left it out of the story

Ugh virtue-signaling on 2+2. He participated in the whole hand without saying anything, happy to profit as along as it wasn't obvious.

Also, I'm sure there are 300 debate threads on this, but I think the ethics of this situation aren't cut and dry. If the story is accurate, the guy didn't seek out to see the guy's cards. We're all responsible to protect our hands.

Actually we do not know when Hero learned villains hand. It was before he bet the river. But when before is not stated.

Last weekend someone jammed QJo utg for about 30bb and was shocked when a new player who'd called everything preflop called with K2s and busted him. Claimed he was a 90% favorite with such a monster as QJ.

Later in the cash game he wanted to straddle to 10xbb with a stack of 40bb because he wanted to up the ante when he had position. Shockingly the other players refused to let him do it.
