Anyone know of any live poker venues in NZ? In Wellington atm. Played in Auckland and I understand theres a poker room at the casino in Queenstown. Anyone know if they are as soft as Oz games? Thanks.

If you're looking for a Casino setting there are Casino's in Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin which all offer poker.

I'm not sure what stakes and games (with the exception of NLH) are offered, however.

If you're in Wellington the best option is the NPPL - National pub poker league. In Wellington the league operates on a $10 buy in system with the winner recieving the entire prize pool (although Deals are inevitably cut before the winner is decided). Unfortunetly, because of NZ Law players must be allowed to "Freeroll" if they want too, although they are ineligable for the prizepool if they do so this hardly ever happens. The law allows for a prizepool up to $500 which is generally hit at 4 out of the 6 games.

Games are offered 6 days a week with 5 NLH games and a PLO game.

If you are outside Wellington don't even bother with the NPPL. In other centres its ran as a freeroll with the winner recieving a bar tab.
