Good luck and have a great trip. Def check out allvegaspoker. It will give you a crtique on all the rooms and the tournys. For what its worth, you may not get a lot of runners at the Luxor.

$60 tourney at Luxor. If I play bad, I'll stick to tourneys.

Decent play, though and next stop is $150 @ 1/2 NLHE at MGM or Excal. Nit it up.

If i lose, rebuy if sucked out, stand up if outplayed, switch to 3/6 or 4/8 limit depending on remaining trip roll.

Have fun and don't sweat the small stuff.
Please don't play the $60 Tourny @ Luxor! Worst tourny in the state, no wait, the country...

Have fun!

mother of god do NOT play the tounies at luxor unless u like hyper turbo donkfests and 33% tounie fees

stick to 1/2 nlhe cash imo, if u play limit the rake will eat u up unless u go on a sick heater...if u do decide to play and go on heater, GTFO before ur stack dwindles down

if want some micro fun nlhe try bills gamblin hall for fiddy-cent/$1 - best at night with booooze, nit fest during day with high hand jpot/aces cracked bonus whores

Tip from former Las Vegas resident:

Leave debit card at home when you visit the titty bars. Don't act you're not going and you're only there to play poker... you'll succumb to the beer pressure! LOL

Visit the other end of the strip, especially the Venetian...good food at the tables and plenty of games running. Great eye candy in the waitresses!

Harrahs has some cheap deepstack tournies as well...better then the Luxor crapshoot.

I spent time out there just going around and visiting some of the casinos to get chips for collecting purposes. Got about $100 worth for me and a friend from about 25 casinos. Two or three different $1 chips for several different casinos.

Here's my report:

A last-minute snafu killed my bankroll (my electricity bill got charged four times, not one, so until the bank gets it's act together, I'm actually down $1,000 in my bank account. (This has since been resolved.) For that reason, I only took about $325 with me, instead of the planned $500.

First night, I played a $60 buy-in tourney at the Luxor with about 27 players. My work-friend Greg gave me $20 before I went, and I told him I'd use it as 1/3rd stake in the rouney. Had fun, and played well. I finished in 4th place, just in the money. I took back $140, tipping $20 to the dealers, so after the tip and Greg's $40, I'm up $40.

Second night, I headed to the MGM grand for the 1/2 NLHE cash games. Here's the good news - I won. The bad news - I shouldn't have.

I had intellectually thought about the reality playing, but I was playing scared money. When I got my $200 worth of chips, I realized I was over my head - especially when I had two really good players to my left and right, the game was not soft at all.

I only won one pot, but that was enough. I was on the button, holding KQ. Middle position raises to $20, I call, BB calls. flop comes 846. It's checked to me - I take the free card. There's $60 in the pot.
The turn is the K which gives me Kings w/ a Queen kicker.

The BB goes all-in with a $80 short-stack. The MP goes all-in with his $100 stack.

I count my outs. Assuming nobody hit a set of kings or was slowplaying the flop, I think they both hit -a- king, or a 2p-kings. I think I'm slightly behind here.

However, I do have a 28% chance of improving, and it's $100 to call to win a total $340 pot. And that's assuming my king isn't winning right now. I probably wasn't getting good pot odds to call, but I did. River's a queen, and my 2P beats BB (lower 2P, slowplayed on flop) and MP (AKo).

I end up taking down the pot, and doubling up. I also lost a pot, but I did not lose nearly as much as I won, I ended up at a little north of $300, when I realized that I wasn't having fun, I was nervous, and there was just too much damn money on the table for me to feel comfortable. I racked up and left, making my total win for the table around $100.

All in all, I left Vegas up $140.

One last thing.

I went sightseeing after the cash game, and saw the Bellagio fountains; and stopped by the Aria.

And I got this picture - with my all time favorite pro player:

All in all, fun.

That said, I can't wait to get home. You have to walk a half mile through a casino before you can get anywhere, and I ended up walking around 3 hours straight last night. I swear, this city was designed by Daedalus of Crete.
