Last year politicians were assuring the Illinois voters that the smoking ban would have little effect on casino revenues. Well it turns out the politicians were wrong big time. The smoking ban has created a boom of poker rooms opening.

I find that very interesting, being from Chicago myself. I hate the fact that the Elgin Casino doesn't seem to have any Hold Em tables though. That's crap. =(

Hollywood, Empress & Harrah’s in Metropolis have a total of twelve tables. Jumer’s Casino in Rock Island just opened a six table poker room. Add three more when Crown Victoria opens its room. Going from three to five poker room is the biggest increase Illinois has ever had. The state of Illinois is trying to run their casinos down into the ground. I expect more Illinois casinos to open poker room hoping to draw more people.

Just exchanged my bi-annual e-mail with the Peoria boat. They are NOT going to open a poker room any time soon.

We will drive right by them on next trip to Rock Island casino poker room. Just like we have on previous trips to Bettendorf, Riverside and Tama.

I have not been to any of them before; I go to the Horseshoe Hammond. Do I have any reason to go to any of those you mentioned?

If you usually go to Horseshoe Hammond and then you do visit an Illinois casino poker room ---- well, I can't wait to read THIS trip report.
