im rooting for dennis philips to but i dont think he is going to have a moneymaker effect at all. mainly cuz an amatuer has won the ME like every year for the past 6, so its not a big deal when an amatuer wins anymore.

i knew he had thew chiplead on the FT. but i was wondering if he was good, or just some fish who was running hot. after watching the latest 2 eps it seems to be the latter

the way he talked about the "big name famous pro´s" and the *sigh* when he flopped the nut flush and was bet into, lol.

I think Moneymaker's impact was more than just being an amateur, it was that he got in from a $39 satellite, so people started thinking "I could turn $40 into $2,000,000? Sign me up!"

yes BUT neither Yang, Gold, Hachem or Raymer (although him more than the others perhaps) had the absolutely perfect middle America profile Phillips does.

Particularly as tournaments are increasingly dominated by hyper-aggresive younger players, I think someone like Williams coming through would undoubtedly encourage a new influx of Tuff Fishes.

EDIT: I don't know anything about Phillips other than what's been shown on TV, so I'm not necessarily saying he is the perfect Middle-American, but it's certainly being portrayed that way and the signed Cardinals cap is almost beyond perfect. I remember DN saying on HSP that DB looks like your stereotypical sucker, and you kind of have to think the same about Phillips

I like Dennis Phillips, he looks like a sucker but plays well. And he has a good attitude at the table. The Russian dude (Ivan Demidov) is favorite, I think, because of his experience from the WSOP Europe ME.
Chino is always dangerous but from his style he'll either win or will bust early. About the others I don't really know much about them apart from selling their soul on ebay or giving meaningless interviews on podcasts.

Yea, but you know what? It worked didn't it? He got paid off on it. Then again, what do you expect when a guy limps in w/ 10J and calls a 6xBB?
