IMO Viffer was just bad, Doyle needs a nap, Ruffin rungooood, Barry card dead, Norm ok

I really don't get any of the hate Vanessa receives in this thread. If anything she seems like a nice person, not to mention likely to be the best player at the table (not sure about how good Robl is).

pointless hate. what does her sexuality have to do with her poker skills anyways? She'd destroy all of you most likely.

Viffer gonna Viffer
Doyle gonna nap for sure, seems like he just doesnt care about playing anymore. I probably wouldnt either after that many years and millions.
Wish Norm would throw out a few more jokes but i think he's starting out decently. Im sure he will get better in later episodes.

He's fine. I didn't like that silly bandz guy he kept trying to promote his product, was annoying.

Agreed. I think the only big mistake Klein made was to make a thin value bet on the river, and fold to an obvious bluff raise from Barry.

Klein's run really cold, and he's handled it pretty well. It's tough not to like the guy's game.

Norman Chad did an excellent feature on "nice hand" at the WSOP a few years back on ESPN. Basically, he interviewed a lot of pros and confirmed it almost always translates as "you donk!".

I didn't see a lot of it on HSP, but I saw it in the WSOP and so now I kind of expect it and I guess I'm prejudiced.

Like telling people off for playing badly, getting mad, shaking her head and rolling her eyes like she is unable to comprehend just how stupid the person across from her is. Its arrogant, and bad for the game, and obnoxious.

Maybe I'm reading waaay more into it than I should be, but I tend to even see her constant "nice hand" remarks (which drives me nuts whether it is her saying it or not) isn't so much a "oh nice, I'm impressed with the way you played that," or even a "ouch, you got dealt good cards, lucky you," but more of a "I am smarter than you, and I officially approve of the way you play that hand -- you have my permission to drag in the pot."

It is still cool to see someone who I have read here "before she was big" making millions and hanging out on tv. Good for her.

I think the reason most people don't like vs is b/c of how horrible she came off at the wpt women's event where she finished 2nd (or 1st?). She just had a bad attitude and was berating all the other women (who were complete fish) and she kept using 2+2 lingo to describe how bad they played. Very annoying.

That being said I think she's been pretty amicable and overall likable on this, so if u haven't seen the episode i'm talking about then you just hate her cause she's black.

His bad etiquette is what bugs me the most. He has acted out of turn a few times, which had an impact on the action that was going to happen before him. Plus his comment to Klein when Klein had to chop his AK vs. Barry's AQ was just sort of , especially coming from Ruffin who runs like god speaking to Klein who is running like hell.

But Ruffin does make some great TV entertainment, I'll give him that!

I find it really strange that all of you online donks keep saying doyle is playing bad when 99.5 percent of the players on here call with trips in that spot against Selbst and most of the pros would of atleast thought about it, but Doyle just insta mucks. Your right, absouletly terrible play . And people talking smack about Mercier, dude is a monster get over it. 10NL players acting like they know poker better than the godfather. Cool stories brosephs.

why is there not more analysis of the hand with Brunson and VS? He snap-folded trips on the river against her. This might be the biggest and best lay down in HSP history and there isn't much conservation about it. Odd.

I might not go QUITE that far...

IIRC he bet his trips on the turn, and got two callers, with not much else out there on the board. Already, with no kicker, he has to be kind of worried. Note that Selbst would play trips or a boat exactly that way to try to keep the amateur in the hand.

Then when he fires the river hoping to get value from the amateur and gets fumble-raised by Selbst with the amateur still to act... well, it was either one hell of a move or, much more likely, his hand is no good.

yeah I forgot to include the "amateur yet to act" in the hand. Thanks for the insight about that. But which hand is a bigger lay down in HSP history?

Yeah and he layed down QQ to a cbet. Doyle plays tight, and makes those folds.

When he bets pot on the river in that hand and then gets raised, it's not a bluff. If he half potted the river or 2/3 potted it, sure, but people just don't attack a pot sized bet there. And in a cash game, raising over a pot sized bet on the river there is pretty dangerous. Is there really +ev? Players like Doyle can fold their trips in that spot easily, and when Doyle has a boat and goes all in over the top, would Vanessa be able to fold? River value raising in deep stacked cash games is not something to be taken lightly, IMO. Usually I find you end up owning yourself. To try to squeeze an extra 37k out of Doyle that he doesn't even give her with trips, she may be opening up the rest of her stack to a giant cooler is Doyle (or the amateur) has boat. Plus you lose the potential overcall from the amateur.

For similar reasons, if you can remember Eastgate just calling Dwan on the river with trips in season 5, I'm kind of agreeing with Eastgate's logic.

Anyways, I look forward to tomorrows episode of high stakes coolers.
