I live in LA and im 20 so i only have two choices right now to go play live which is either Morongo or Chumash
Morongos smallest nl game is 1/3 with a $2 drop preflop $100max buy in
Chumash is 1/2 with a $1 drop preflop(pretty sure) $60 capped buy in

i think both places structures are pretty horrendous but i really want to get some more live practice in before i turn 21

which would you recommend or should i just wait till im 21 to play at commerce or the bike etc..?

im on more on the side of morongo because i can buy in for more but the $2 drop means that when i raise to say $9 preflop im raising to win $1 like wtf not that anyone ever folds anyways but still

LA to chumash is a 3 hour drive, not sure where Morongo is. Practice online IMO.

There's also a card room in Ventura I heard was nice and that's only an hour. Not sure the age req's.

Morongo 1/3 is a $40 to $200 buy in. $1 drop if no flop. $4+1 max drop. $9 PFR is pretty small the way that game plays. Typical is 4X to 5X. A 3X PFR will probably get 3 to 5 callers, so the drop is not as significant.

You know - as an 18 year old, you can also play at Barona, Viejas, and Sycuan in San Diego Co. Call Chumash. I thought they were 21+.

I just checked Chumash's website - 18+ is correct.

ditto on the Morongo increae max buyin. (now 200) I played there last October; the new higher buy-in has really helped the game and the room.

I am 18 years old and I have been going to Morongo since August. I do not have much experience in casinos, but I can tell you that certain times it can be very fun there. I play at 1/3 NLHE and that game can get pretty juicy sometimes. The card room is not very big, but there is always a game going on, even at 1pm on a Tuesday. I also have gone to Barona, but I do not like the place for some reason, but if that is closer to you it is a nice card room to go to. So... until you are 21 I suggest you go to Morongo out of all your choices. The rake at Morongo can seem big if you are stealing blinds, but for the most part there is action every hand and nice sized pots. People like drawing till the river there....

Pots do get juicy I remember last time I went to morongo I flopped the nuts and got two all in calls on the flop...but on another note I mostly play a lag style online I'm guessing because of all the action I should nitt it up more and play more of tag style live?

I find this to be true. Very little FE in the 1/3 game there. Wait for a premium hand and take it to value town.
