So I've heard that the betting limits have gone from $2 to $5 -- do they spread a 2/5 limit game -- or 5/5 limit game (I know they used to spread a 1/2 and a 2/2 limit)? Do they even spread limit at all, or is it $100 no-limit and sit-n-goes all day?

they spread limit
1/2 with no small blind (very weird, unbeatable game) 2/2 (another unbeatable game)
and 2/4 (i dunno, probably not beatable)

they could spread a 2/5 or 5/5 game but that would require a change on their part.

The games in Florida have changed. No limit was legalized last year.

The games are now:

1-2 NL 100 max buyin
2-5 NL 100 max buyin (low buyin but there are usually big stacks around)

2-4 limit hold em and 2-4 limit omaha hi/low

I don't know which Hard Rock are you talking about but I'll tell you which games are usually spread at the Hollywood one:

1-2 limit (it is played with one $1 blind)
2-2 limit
2-4 limit
1/2 NLHE (100 max buyin)
2/5 NLHE (100 max buyin)
5/10 NLHE (100 max buyin)
2/2 O8 (haven't seen it too often)

They spread 5/5 or "straight five" as its called at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. It is an amazing game to watch played. 5-9 to a flop even if raised, no one folds if they have any kind of hand/draw. The pots become so large that its insane.

I gave this game some thought and think I have a strategy to beat it but the swings from the suckouts would be sickening and it would probably give you bad habits. I'm not willing to play it at all or god forbid enough to test my theories.

Is there ever anything higher than 5/10 spread? Obviously the games are quite the all-in fest until people get stacks; if anyone has played 5/10 here would you describe the games in comparison to typical 5/10 live?

A completely unreliable source (1/2 NL live player, probably not much better than breakeven) got my hopes up by telling me that there was 20/40nl spread at the Tampa Hard Rock, I believe he went there yesterday night. Confirm/deny?

What are the highest NL games spread in all of Florida, for that matter? Is there anything above 5/10NL?

The state law limits the buy in to $100 1-2 2-3 2-5 and a 5-10 game are played in the state but you still have to start with $100 and you can only rebuy up to the original $100 (the 5-10 game is at Hollywood Hard Rock)

Poker in Florida sucks, My recommendation is to do what I did. I lived in Punta Gorda for a year, I heard that poker was really bad in Florida but I moved anyway because I was offered a job that I could not refuse. The poker was so bad that I quit a 100k year job, moved back to Arizona and started a 60k year job all because I could not stand how bad the poker was.

Florida Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOVE ASAP................... You can make enough money playing poker in a different state to make for cost of having to relocate

I go to the Tampa Hard Rock a lot and I never see any 20/40 nl spread there. The max buying is $100 so a 20/40nl would buy in for 2.5 bb lol

the best part is that like change has and is happening really really fast so within the next two years you'll feel really stupid.

I don't play at the Tampa Hard Rock (I play at the Hollywood) but I'd call BS. I have heard of players trying to get the floor to spread a 10-20 NLHE but it never went so 20-40 would be ridiculous (5/10 is already ridiculous)

this game is not beatable.

I had 22 and I was getting 40-1 to call the turn on a KQ87r board

anyone that can call with 22 profitable on the turn on that board, there is just no mistakes for the fish to make.

lolz at the level.

But I'm too damn nice to newbies lurking who may fall for this fallacy so I'll explain it and ruin the humor. If there are no mistakes for the fish to make then every decision is +EV so it's literally impossible for anyone to lose money. And of course the only way that can be true is if the chip gusher in the middle of the table keeps spewing out stacks of $5s and $25s.

In the 22 example, if that's really true then people are making a LOT of mistakes calling preflop with suited junk that can't make a winning flush and/or heavily dominated junk like J5 versus KJ and A5. Everyone can't cold-call with >10% equity in the pot. Unless the gusher is causing total equity to be > 100% of course.

I'm quite sure you can beat that game for 1 BB/hour easily. Yes, the rake is huge, yes the variance is big because pots are 9 handed every time. But still you can beat it.
