Has anyone been down to the resort since the Foxwoods Poker Classic started running a week or so ago?? Just wondering what kind of big NL games were running regularly every night, and whether there was an increase in action at the lower stakes NL games. I'm planning on going down this Friday, which I believe is day 1 of the main event, to get some hours on the 1-2NL tables (hell, if I'm lucky maybe I'll get to play with Gavin Smith... )

And as a side note - is the not-so-delicious buffet food and drink that's served down in the tournament room up for grabs for railbirders like me? I always feel rather sketchy filling up on the fruit and eggrolls while I'm down there during tournament time...

I was thinking about going down to the Woods this weekend until I remembered the FPC was going on. Anybody know how many 1/2 NL tables they have going while this is happening? Would I be waiting like 3 hours for a seat?

I don't have a ton of experience because I pretty much just go on weekends, but here's what I've noticed.

The action at FW is definitely better during tourney times. Plenty of every type of NLHE game, although there can be quite a wait. It depends though.... I've waited anywhere between 10 minutes to 2 hours for a seat during tourney weekends.

As for big games, there will probably be a 10-25NL game going basically non-stop, and likely a 25-50 or higher also, at least this weekend. At the lower levels, you won't likely see much difference (a little softer if anything), but the room will be busier.

I was there last Saturday, got to the poker room around 11am and waited about 20 minutes for a seat at the 1/2 NL. The place was packed, really filled up around noon and the wait list was growing rapidly.

Saw Robert Varkonyi playing in a 10/25 NLHE game I believe.

Also saw Kenna James playing in a satellite I think. I passed by him to go to the bathroom and all I heard come out of his mouth was "some you guys don't know what the value of money is". He looked pretty pissed off lol

I was there Saturday - 3/29. Got there around 330P and waited 4 hours to get on a 1/2 NL table. Played until midnight. I signed up electronically using my Wampum card - signed up for both 1/2 and 2/5 NL - was 281st and 111th (if I remember correctly) on the lists respectively. They had 19 1/2NL tables and 7 2/5NL tables going.

From previous experience if you get there by noon the wait shouldn't be anywhere this bad - I got there late as I had other things I had to take care of before heading down.

With that said - the games are very good/profitable during the tournament. You get all the tournament types playing cash when they bust out - which equals profit.

The action is great at FW right now, and the players haven't gotten any better. I've had big days playing 20-40 OE, 10-20 stud, and 1/2 nl. The earlier you get there, the better. Pro sightings include Paul Darden and Amnon Filipi (sp?). Also saw last year's champ Raj Patel.

This tournament series is very poorly attended so there isn't much change in games/action. 10/25 nl is the biggest game that runs regularly although we got a 25/50 nl game going a few days ago. The wait for the smaller games is probably going to be fairly long during peak hours. And I would just help yourself to the food in the tournament area, foxwoods can spare it.

*** Checked again and turns out Sunday the Daily tournies start back up...

I played 1/2NL last Friday and was pretty surprised to be 8th on the list at 7:00pm when I got there after work.

It was pretty busy though. I had a terrible table on the other side of the stud tables. Why they stuck a 1/2 table on Table 1 is beyond me. Had a decent night so I can't complain too much. Left around 11:30 and the place was still packed.
