Floor Ruling if dealer says he heard call? Take his stack? Floor Ruling if dealer says he heard call? Take his stack?

Shortstack ($200) who was next to me bets $50 on the flop and Bigstack ($2200) goes all in. Shortstack starts to move a column of reds forward but not over the line and says “did you go all in?”, dealer kind of turns to look at Bigstack and he immediately flips his hand over revealing 2 pair. Shortstack immediately says “I didn’t call!” and the dealer says “Yes you did, you said ‘call’”. So Bigstack calls the floor.

Issue 1 – I was 90% sure that Shortstack did not call, and that he said “did you go all in?” However, I did not feel like getting involved in the argument. Was I being immoral by staying silent?

So the floor comes over and says to the dealer “What did you hear” and he says “I heard call”. So the floor is hemming and hawing and Bigstack says “just keep your money – forget it” and that pretty much ends the argument.

The guy next to me says to Shortstack “if the dealer says he heard call the floor will award the other player the pot. That’s how it works. If you take your money and walk out they will never let you in again.”

So I was not sure if I should have said anything and wonder what people think the proper floor ruling should have been? Is it a call if that’s what the dealer said he heard? Are there any rooms where Bigstack’s hand would be dead given that he tabled it (presumably when the action was still on Shortstack)?

Did the chips move past his cards? Was there distinct forward motion of chips?

If Dealer adamantly says to the Floor that he heard "Call", then the ultimate ruling I would think is that he called. Bigstack's hand is not dead ever.

Not immoral for silence if you weren't sure. If you clearly heard "call" or clearly know he didn't say "call", I'd speak up though.

I don't think its your job to get involved. Unless the dealer asks what the story was or if you blatantly disagree with the story, then I say its generally better to keep your mouth shut.

Interesting move with the question and posing the questionable call.

Seems like ShortStack was shooting an angle.

BigStack should have waited until Shorty's chips were in the pot.

You should tell the Floor what you heard, and then stay out of the arguement.

Dealers never, ever mishear players or make any other mistakes. In the cases where everybody else at the table tells a story directly opposite of the Dealer's version, the Floor must back up his coworker. (please check the batteries in your Acme Sarcasm Detector)
