I live in Austin and will be taking my first weekend B&M trip to play limit since moving here. Other threads seem to indicate that of the games within 5 hrs drive, Winstar is the softest.

1. Is this true?

2. Which pokerstars limit (for instance) does the 4/8 at Winstar best equate to?

3. The Winstar site seems to say there aren't NL tournaments on the weekend. Is this correct? My compadres are all NL players.

4. What is the average buyin for the 1/2 NL cash tables in ya'lls experience?

5. Are there any Gainesville TX motels that are total fleabags (should be avoided in spite of cheap rate).

Thanks in advance, peoples.

The 4/8L games looked incredibly weak from what I've watched. That said, play for fun not profit as the rake plus tokes are a gamekiller there. 1/2NL is really soft also, can play on autopilot and they only get reasonably tough (for the stakes) after midnight during the week when populated mostly by college regs. 1/2 buyins seem to be the $100 min more often than not, other times the $200 max and occasionally a guy will reach into his pocket and pull out a random sum between and buy it all then donk it off quickly with weak passive play. 1/2NL there plays like weekend .25/.50 online except looser preflop.

No NL tourns on weekend except for STT satellites if near the end of the month. Tell your NL tournament buddies to grow a set and try cash games.

If playing NL I'd bring at least 3 buyins, whether those be the min or max or whatever you plan to buy in for.

If you suffer a huge bad beat and go on tilt, walk from poker room to far side of the casino and back. 20 minutes later you'll have cooled off.

No idea on motels.

Get a players card at front desk for free food. Even if you don't want the food at least you can get a couple free bottled coffees or 6 candy bars to go.

I like the Americas Best Value Inn as a good place to stay, I've used it myself, about $50 on weekends plus tax for a 2 bed room.

small fridge, micro wave, free HBO.

it's on Hwy 82 maybe 8 miles from casino. Check the net for it.

i'll give you a shortcut:

When you get to gainseville, go east on 82 to 287. Merge onto I-40. Take I-40 to 93. Take 93 to 515. Exit Tropicana and go left.

And when you want to leave take the 515 to the 15 and exit somewhere near the beach.

You've arrived.

the 4/8 limit are about the same as the full ring .50/1.00 limit tables on stars.

If you decide to follow the above directions, fill up your gas tank, top it off real good.

Hwy 287 is WEST of Gainesville, the poster is going the wrong way as usual.
