Did The Bike change their Midnight Madness structure? Did The Bike change their Midnight Madness structure?

Last played the midnight madness at the bike a few months ago and before it played like a turbo with 2000 starting stack and 20 min blinds, but a player at the commerce tonight told me they doubled the chip stack or something so now there's actual poker involved. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Don't have the answer but I've watched the general trend in weekly tournaments in the area.

A card club could double the chip stack and still have it "play like a turbo" in that the final table will be reached in about the same amount of time and the typical player will end with a similar stack to blind ratio through most of the tournament. You do this by accelerating the limits (i.e., bigger jumps) and/or shorten the rounds while starting with more chips.

Cliff notes is often a "deep stack" tournament doesn't really give you more play and when it doesn't it's mostly a marketing gimmick.

Deeper stack, bigger blinds.

I think it's a decent structure for a daily low limit tournament.

Average turnout is 60-80 players

4,000 Starting Stacks

20 minute levels

25-25
25-50
50-100
75-150
100-200
100-200 w/ante
150-300 w/ ante
200-400 w/ ante
300-600 w/ ante
500-1000 w/ ante

and on...

The Bicycle listened to all your requests to increase the starting chips to 4000. The blinds start at the same 25-25 and go up slowly. 7 days a week

last time i played the midnight tournie there was over 120 people in it. only PM tournie i know that was cancelled is the $10 tournies at normandie. but on a side note i HATE the 'off the table' rule the bike has. i watched someone sit out an entire round at the final table when one of his hole cards innocently floated past the dealer and off the table. that 'sit out' rule affected the final table and the end of the game since only 4 players were left.

In 7 years of poker, I've managed to never once throw a card off the table (innocently or otherwise). It ain't that tough to avoid, and it seriously slows down the game when it happens. I'm fine with the rule.

If I had a nickel for every poker player that didn't want to take responsibility for their own actions... I'd be chipleader right now.

It's a good rule and some players do not take proper precautions to keep their cards on the tables. I've never (and I rarely use that word in poker) made a "card on the floor" ruling/penalty that was not the result of a player's demonstrative behavior.
