This happens very rarely (I've seen it maybe twice in my lifetime). One time the Floor got called over because the dealer had lost track of where the stub was because they were so far along with cleaning up. The final ruling by the Floor was to use one of the three burn cards for the river which had remained under the chips away from the other cards.

The moment the player questions the runout I would immediately ask all of the other players at the table if they had either of the two cards that were put out for the turn and river whether or not I was still in the hand.

Now it is true that people may not remember the suit of their cards especially a 2. But I would do it to try to move the game forward as quickly as possible. And I would do it whether I had won or lost (if I had lost though I wouldn't even have brought it up). Hopefully it would be acceptable to the player who lost.

Anything that turns on expecting players to be honest is pretty much a fail for me. Unless such is about the only option I vote against.

Does not matter if player answers yes or no we know that some players who believe they can gain any advantage will lie. Percent may be very few but they do exist.
