I hate $t500 chips when I'm dealing with tons of chips later in a tournament. Greatly slows me down when breaking down all in bets.

There's no reason they should slow you down. Think of them as $5 chips in a cash game and add 2 zeroes at the end. Break them in stacks of 5 chips, just like you would if it was cash.

I'm guessing you've been breaking them in stacks of 2 chips and counting them as "one thousand, two thousand, three thousand..."

So when someone puts out 17 of those suckers, just break them into stacks of 5 and count them as "25, 50, 75, and 2 more makes 85 hundred."

I worked an 11 hour shift yesterday. During hour 10 I hung my tip box on the outgoing dealer's chair at the table I was getting ready to push. This is frowned upon at my workplace and I've been scolded for doing this in the past. But that thing gets heavy at the end of a long shift and I didn't care. As I was waiting for him to finish the hand I got distracted and looked away - this is when the dealer pushed the chair back and stood up, causing the box to fall directly on my toe. If it were my hand, I'd call it my ring finger. Does this make it my ring toe?

Looking at it now, it's a lovely shade of blue and purple, and about 150% of the size that my toe should be. It may be broken, but it doesn't hurt too much to walk on it, so I'll bravely suffer through it. And I haven't decided if I'll learn my lesson or not. That box gets heavy after 10 hours!

I don't get this. Do you break $5 chips into stacks of 4 at the 2-5 NL table?

I played 2-5nl with Jamie gold last night. Played with a world champ and beat him. Cross that off the bucket list.

Would you prefer the alternative?

Since you ask, my first choice would be to come in once a week, deal a bbj to the right table, and go home.

Same reason why tournaments don't use a t2500 chip

That would be the George Costanza of dealers. Deal the bad beat, stand up and scream, That's it for me!

Yeah that's where I was. He wasn't even trying but I did get to see him jam his last 150 with a4 on 874 flop vs qq and turn an ace like a boss.

It worked for him in the Main Event. Why switch it up now?

Some guy said I know your tricks and I won't fall for them so the champ replied my goal is to get it in bad every time I'm not trying to pull any tricks on anyone.

I'm with you on this. Unless I'm breaking down a full stack to verify, I think it's easier for everybody to count by 2. Depending on how other spare chips are being counted down, too.

It's partially for my benefit, but it's also greatly for the players' benefit. As I like to say, it's not what I know, it's what I can demonstrate and verify. Players get REALLY confused by 500 and 1000 in the same pot, and an all-in player has even more difficult focusing on such things. I want it to be as clear as possible as quickly as possible.

I don't count them a thousand at a time. Holy crap that would be bad. Thinking of them as $5 chips is a great thought. I will do this from now on. I can already visualize the stacks of various sizes and amounts. The cloud of confusion has been lifted

Hey, guys. Guys. I've figured it out. Guys, seriously. Check it out.

I think I've cracked the code to getting players to hear me when I ask for blinds.

I've been doing this here and there for a couple of days, and it's worked every time.

I swipe the cut card on the table in front of the player, while asking for the blinds.

It's like magic. I think since it's so out of bounds of the usual talking and tapping that evebody does, that it gets attention. It's like waving a flag, but a flag that also makes noise.

Try it yourself. Report back.

I don't think I've run across a super slow dealer who didn't also make huge errors.

I can't wait to announce, "Here comes the ante train!", and use my cut card to make a lap around the table on the betting line....and instead of saying "chugga chugga, chugga chugga, choo choo!", I'll say, "ante ante, ante ante, ante ante..."

I did a 15 hour shift on monday. Around hour 10 I switched to a different box. Not only does it get annoyingly heavy but when a box stops making noise when I drop chips into it, it's time for a new one.

How is a 15 hour shift even legal? Holy cripes.

OT: I had the craziest table last night.

It was fairly quiet, although people chatted and joked from time to time. There was a fair amount of action, although nobody really got too far out of line. Everybody kept their cards in clear view, nicely squared with a chip on top in front of stacks. Nobody moved the button or made change for themselves. Everybody toked, even on small pots. Nobody yelled at me or at another player. Nobody grumbled about suckouts. Nobody commented on the board or on another player in the middle of a hand.

I could've stood for a little bit more chatter, but holy crap it was the perfect table, for a dealer or a player. Ran smooth as silk ****, with enough action to keep it interesting but not too much to kill the game. Almost had to pinch myself.
