Asking for a seat change button doesn't bother me.

I had this one week.

I was dealing a must move Omaha 8 game and we had been losing players quickly to the main game.

A new player (known extreme nit) come sto the game. He wants the nine seat, the button is in the eight seat. Instead of just sitting in the nine seat and waiting one hand .... he sits in the open seven seat plays a hand and then moves to the none seat.

A little while later we are playing 4 handed with a reduced rake ($1). Another player goes to the main game and the button is on Mr. Nit. He now demands that there should be no rake. I call the floor and the floor can't authorize no rake on his own so he has to get a hold of the shift manager to get the ok. They Okay and we are playing no rake.

I deal the hand. Move the button, inform Mr. Nit that it is his Large Blind and he gets up and walks because he doesn't want to play 3 handed.

You guys would love this guy: they call a new game, he's the first player to arrive at the table, he can have any seat he wants, he takes the 3 seat...and asks for the First Seat Change button.

(doesn't bother me, I understand that he wants to get behind any fish who may subsequently arrive.)

Only players I "hate" are the ones who yell at the other players.

Girl in the break room the other night, venting about players who constantly say things to other players like, "Oh, I had you before the flop!":
Quote:
I just want to scream at them, "Then why don't you go play somewhere where they spread THAT game?"
I assured her, "Oh, nothing would change. If they did find that game, they'd be saying things like, 'I had you on the first card! You got lucky and caught up on the second card!...'"

I mean, c'mon, the guy is sitting right next to you. Your stacks are $100. You can visualize a ~$130 stack close enough to make a decision about folding.

Had a guy yesterday;

There was a raise to $12, and like 6 people called, ONE of which was with three reds. Gets to the BB who asks "Raise to $15"

Way to go.

I bet we are thinking of the same person. He tilts me in general, but especially that.

The guy in the main game who is screaming about the open seat before the seat is actually open, (player starts racking up - "this is ridiculous ... where is the floor? there is must move! FLOOR!!!!").

Game gets short, reg barks, "Dealer, get some players in here!"

My standard reply: "You say that like I've got some in a closet somewhere, and I haven't brought them to the table yet because I'm not paying attention and didn't notice that we have several empty seats? Like I'm Bobby Knight, I'm going to point to two guys on the bench, they're going to quickly strip off their warm-up suits and trot into the game..."

EDIT TO ADD: Just this second thought of this one: "Don't worry, I already made a call to the bullpen, they're warming up now..."

Wasn't talking about a specific player, but I'm trying to think of who you're referring to, haha.

What I think I figured it out.

Is this an older gentleman who never shuts up, and every time he's in the button he will pick it up, spin it around a few times, pound it onto the table, and then set it back down like 3-4" away from where you put it?

Tilts me so hard. This is how our O8 game is. Sometimes the player hasn't even completely left the open seat before the table starts barking about the must move.

That's a spot where it's hard to mask my true ******* self. It seems the worst in the 2/4 FLHE game. I mean, you can hear that we've made announcements, right? You understand that it takes time for people to get to the podium and be directed to their seats, right?

I've taken to saying, "Sorry, our teleporter doesn't work, so we have to wait for people to walk over," but that never goes down well.

My friendly co-worker. He deals poker in the same room I deal in.

He's playing in the 3 seat and quietly tells the 4 seat that he's taking a break so seat 4 posts his blind.
To me it looks like the 3 seat has his blind out there so I deal.
He sits there and waits till I get all the cards dealt and says,
"Why did you deal me in, that's his blind?" pointing to seat 4 and getting up from the table.

"Misdeal."

Same dealer/player/co-worker playing the 3 seat mucks his cards out of my reach.
When the 4 seat pushes them closer for me my buddy tells him, "Don't push them in, make him reach.".

Please god please let him deal me a big bad beat jackpot.

Exactly. 3 and 8 seat are the best seats to see everyone else at the table. I want every edge I can get. I can think of lots of player actions that cost more time.

Here's how seat changes worked at one of my gigs:

Seat comes open. Who wants it? If more than one person, they draw. Once that was settled, seat was locked up and the next name on the list was seated.

I dug it.

Had a guy today who won a pot call me a bad dealer because I didn't call string raise on his opponent. I said he was free to refund the chips if he felt that strongly about it.

The raise in question was from a kid who spoke very quietly. The initial call was released practically simultaneously with his verbalizing a raise and quickly pushing out additional chips. So I figured he had said raise and I hadn't heard it. Nobody protested until after the hand.

It's not the dealer's job to call it anyway IMO.

Like when it starts checking around and then UTG gets mad saying I should have stopped the action because he didn't check.

"I figured you must have checked and I didn't see it or you would have spoke up..."

Then my boss says I should have stopped the action... I can't win.

If I do stop the action UTG says he checked a long time ago...

I'm not a dealer but as a player, I hate when I'm in a hand and a new player steps up to the table and throws their players card at the dealer to log them in the system. I mean seriously! Can't you just f%^#ing wait til the hands over. I want the dealer paying attention to the action. Plus it just seems rude as hell to assume the game should pause cause they're in it now. I must be getting old.

I would rather swipe your card or make change so you can pay the waitress during the
hand while the action is going around the table instead of holding up my shuffle or deal.

If I'm too busy to swipe your card or give you change I will just set it next to my tray and get to it when I can.

Getting more hands out is good for you (the winning player), the house and me.

Fly there's so many permutations of "couldn't that have waited until the hand is over?" with people intentionally trying to divert the dealer's attention that it really makes me wonder why some people come to the cardroom.

If the action stops I wiil ask for your card during the hand. But if I don't ask don't throw your card in. The players in the hand are entitled to my attention
