Doesn't matter where he drank. He presented an underage ID with booze on his breath.

Now, prior to this I had been to a couple restaurants where I had been offered a drink. I had two beers, one at 2:40 and one at 4:00. The officer got to the casino around 5:15. Apparently they smelled it on my breath.
However maybe the restaurants were PRE casino - possible.

We'll have to see if OP comes back.

Either way, OP whining that casino didn't take attempt to enter illegally kindly is ridiculous.

Yeah, remains to be seen if he comes back or not, but my take on it is that he wasn't trying to enter illegally.

I assume from his post that he didn't realise the legal age is 21 and simply presented his ID to enter the casino.

We won't know unless he explains it better, which looks unlikely, so no point discussing it further I guess.

They would have told him he must be 21. He would say "Sorry, I'm used to Oklahoma where it's 18.".
And the story would be over.

Either there is more to the story than we know, or they just smelled the booze and had to take action.

Giving the exact times he ordered each drink seems to be setting a position he wasn't intoxicated. Apparently the casino disagreed.

He's underage. It's not legal for him to even have sip of alcohol.

This. Completely irrelevant whether he's intoxicated or not. The law was broken.

Thanks. Didn't know the law.

It's relevant as to why a casino would notice him and then give him a hard time. It's also relevant as to why he was placed in the protective custody of an adult.

What sort of draconian police state would enforce such a trivial breach of a law, or even have such a ******ed law in the first place?

LOL at a 20 year old being put in the protective custody of an adult.
This isn't the politics forum, so don't make posts along these lines going forward. Feel free to complain/comment further on this issue in the Moderation Discussion Thread.

Sorry to hear about that OP. I'm in LA now myself, but where I'm from a lot of the micro casinos are also 18 and up, just no drinking. Which casino did you try to get into?

All casinos in LA are 21

If he was from Houston it was probably Isle Capri. Golden Nugget or LaBuerge. All are in Lake Charles and all have poker.

If he is from Dallas area the. It would be Horseshoe or El Dorado in shreveport

Curious to see if OP has any other details. Sounds ridiculous otherwise. Unless he caused a scene, they would just say sorry, you gotta be 21 to get in, bye. At least you'd think so.

Ummmm, no. You are not in Louisiana which is abbreviated as LA. OP had traveled east from where he resides in Texas to go play at a casino in Louisiana.
You on the other hand live in Los Angeles, about 1500 miles away from where OP was.

How do you know this? Los Angeles wouldn't be impossible.

Wait never mind, just re-read the bit about gambling at 18 in Los Angeles. Louisiana does make more sense.

Enjoy:

(concentrate on Casino age)

I'm shocked to see that many 21s. At least you can play bingo in Maine when 16.

Wouldn't like to live in Hawaii or Utah.

Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and good old Rhode Island appear to be the best states?
