Yuck. Pretty brutal with $3500 going to first. Considering playing either event #8 or #12 at Borgata, that is if I can ever get money off Merge.

Yeah, i thought it was gross. Such a massive payout jump.

The BPO events 8 & 12 look good. I will do at least one of those. My girl is playing in event 1 as we speak. I'm getting ready to head down. I like the smaller events they have in the evening. I'm going to go play the event 23 tonight, and i'll prob play a few of the other smaller ones. We live about 45min from the Borgota, so we go alot.

Gonna bump this thread because I was at Caesars yesterday and it was advertised in the poker room that they are running a double comp rate per hour. I'm going to assume it's the NLH games but you may want to call-in to make sure. (I posted this the Caesars AC thread to get the word out)

Is Total Rewards offering double tier any day of the week in July?

Here's what I have to offer (give and take, right? lol). All of these offers are good for new black card members only:
- Atlantic Club (formerly Hilton) 100 slot dollars
- Revel 50 slot dollars
- Golden Nugget 25 slot dollars

... Unfort. I think some of these are only good to the end of the month.

Total Rewards does not offer double tier at any property any more. These promotions only extend to COMP dollars and not tier. They are changing terminology on their promotions, which has been a bit confusing, as I received a tier multipler in May which in fact was only a comp multiplier. Double comp dollars can be found Mon-Thurs at Harrah's. Not sure about the other properties.

I'm planning a trip to Atlantic City and trying to find a decent poker rate in advance (for a Monday/Tuesday).

I want to be sure and have a room booked since it will be end of July and I don't want to just show up and find out everything is sold out. Almost just went ahead and booked a Harrah's after talking to someone in the poker room a few weeks ago who told me the poker rate would be $25/night for 4 hours of play, and they could just adjust the rate once I get there and play for four hours.

Today, I was about to call and book the room, decided to double check with the poker room to see if there wasn't some special rate code I could use to book the rate, and was told "we don't have any poker rates available for the rest of the summer. That could possibly change, but as of right now, they won't give us anymore rates." (not sure who "they" are-- the room reservation people, the corporate headquarters, what?)

I don't understand. I know it is summer, but really? I thought, from reading these forums that Harrah's was one of the easiest places to get poker rate, since it is off the boardwalk and tends to not be as busy, especially during the week. What the hell?

Any advice on casinos in AC that do offer a poker rate that I can maybe book in advance (I do have some recent play at Caesars in Vegas, will that help me at all?). I don't want to book a room at full rate and get screwed again.

Thanks--

What you should have gleaned from reading the forums is that it's difficult to get comped rooms in AC during the summer without an established history of play. Get yourself a room in Absecon, commute in to the casinos, play a bunch of hours, and watch the room offers roll in for the fall.

And make sure you are on the White Horse Pike (Rt 30), not the Black Horse Pike... Not that the Rooms on Rt 30 are 5 star, but you dont want to be in one of the places on the Black Horse Pike.

kitty for 2 weeks now I have been trying to get a poke room rate or at least a decent price on the boardwalk. I am going to be in town on Aug 4th (sat). I have called every casino in AC except one and have not been able to get a poker room rate. The only casino that I have not contacted yet is Tropicana. On their website it gives poker room rates but it says June. http://www.tropicana.net/casino/poker/poker-promotions/
I tried calling the poker room and they transferred me to the front desk. I was only hold once for 18 min and my cell phone battery died. I tried again the other day and was on hold for 12 min but my baby started crying so I had to hang up. If you call them and get any info please post it back here.

You're not going to get a poker rate in AC on a Saturday in the summer.

Yes, I understand, but I also read on the forums that it is much easier on weekdays. I don't need a full comp, I just wanted a poker rate for a Monday and Tuesday I don't think it's too much to ask, or at least get a clear answer of whether or not it is even possible. I just don't understand their wishy-washy, up in the air way of doing things: "Well, we have rates available, but we may not have them when you get here. Take your chances." You'd think they would be a little more friendly to potential customers, especially ones with an established history at their other properties in Vegas.

I would be happy to stay in Absecon, but I'm coming from the West Coast (for other reasons, not exclusively for AC) and won't be renting a car. I looked into car rentals and that expense would negate any $ I'd save by staying away from the Boardwalk.

I'm tempted to just take the risk and show up without any reservation and take my chances on scoring the poker rate after playing a few hours somewhere like the Showboat. I just don't like the idea of charging my credit card for the full price of a room in advance. What are the chances that a place like this would be "sold out" if I show up on a Monday at the end of July? Anyone use this strategy before?

Thanks for the response.

That's a bad idea for AC. It's much harder to get rooms comped/discounted in AC vs Vegas (or anywhere else for that matter).

There are some places near the boardwalk that are a close walk to the casinos and reasonably priced on weeknights.

Meh, I guess it will be too much of a hassle trying to get a poker rate in AC. Looks like I'll be spending a few nights in Philly instead. I heard they have a few new poker rooms worth checking out...plus more stuff to do in town if I decide not to play cards 24/7.

Thanks for all the advice tho.

Just a Heads Up, Showing up at a CET casino thinking you are going to get a Pokerroom rate on site is a bad idea.

They have elliminated poker room rates starting about a month and a half ago.

... I don't like it, but that is the current state of things.

The BBJ at the CET properties is up to about 675K. I'm going to play 1/3 at Ballys this weekend and hopefully it will hit.

it wasn't in september. I think the only place doing that is golden nugget..maybe revel.

borgata seems to always match the card, but Idk if there are any other perks than free parking/better food.

I'm turning 21 in less than 2 weeks and I'm planning on going to AC. What should I do, where should I play. What are the promos and everything like? Are there any casinos that run 1/2 PLO regularly?

Borgata is the only place in town for PLO, you're pretty much guaranteed to have at least one table of PLO running every day until February 1 bc of Winter Open

1-2 PLO is 100min/500max (90% of the time played with $5 bring-in)
2-5 is 200/1000
