Ill most likely be taking a few days in Aruba in a few months and Id like to know more about the casinos there. I have no idea where the place ill be staying is, but its near a non hotel casino that dosent have poker, thats all I know as of now.

I was told that poker is at the larger casinos, but I would just like some info on them. Are there lots of options? is the action good?? games played??

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt when I was there and the closest poker room was at the Raddisson a short walk down the beach. The room is located in the back of their casino and it was pretty small, they had 3 games going: 2 1/2nl games that reeked of touristy fishiness & a full $5/5 game with a $1000 max buy in. I spent a few minutes checking out the game and it was basically 9 local grinders each taking a little bite out of whatever rich tourist decided to take a shot at the game. When a seat opened I jumped in. Everyone at the table had either close to 2k and one or two had close 2 4k. I asked the table & the floorman if anyone would object to me buying in for 2k & the 9 players started drooling, they couldn't get me in the game fast enough.

I played a little looser than normal and did a decent job of projecting an image of a wealthy american who learned most of what he knows about poker from Vince Van Patten & Norman Chad. 2 hours later I cashed out for close to 5K and drove with a few of my boys over to Dirty Town(San Marino) where all the drinks & dances were on me. When I got up the game actually broke & I left one or two of the players talking to themselves but I know I made the staff happy I was really generous with them. I went back for the next 3 days but they never got another $5/5 off while I was there but it was July probably not their busiest month it felt like 120 degrees every day.

as in any place you play ask what the rake is and how is it taken. you may not want to play there after you find out. and watch closely to see that what they told you is true as likely it isnt.

There was just a thread recently that I posted a wealth of information about the excelsior casino in aruba, imo the best place to play.

And yes, check the rake structure, its awful: however, I think the action makes up for it.

Yes, I forgot to mention that the rake was absolutely abysmal and I don't think you can make a profit playing the $1/2 game but the action I got in the $5/5 was insane and more than made up for the rake.

whats the max rake for these games??? 1/2 and 5/5 nl?
