Is there any Spread Limit games in Las Vegas? I stopped in Mesquite and they had a 2-8 Texas Holdem game. I was wondering if there are any like that in Vegas.

1-3 spread limit is starting to run once or twice a week at Excalibur.

I never understood the point of spread limit having such a small spread. Why not just play limit? Now, if the spread was still small, 1-10 or 1-15, I think it would be a nice stepping stone between limit and PL/NL.

Good question. I don't know the answer. Only reason Excal is spreading 1/3 Spread is that it was one of the regular games that ran in that room at the time they converted to PokerPro.

I don't know what the attraction was to the game, but it has a pretty good following with those players.

Texas Station (Rancho & Lake Mead) has $2-6 that goes everyday. It has a half-kill to $3-9.

This game is a Blast! (IMHO)

They often have "Over-Buttons"
to make it no-limit.

When Aliante first opened, they had a $2-10 spread limit hold'em game (I played it on opening night) but they almost never get it going anymore.

They now do $2-4 & $4-8 limit as well as $1-3 NL and a little Omaha now & then.

Best of Luck,

How's the competition at Texas Station? What's the best time to get in a game their?

Come play some $2-$5 spread limit (max $5 bet) in Colorado before the laws change in July 2009. That'll cure you of wanting to ever play spread limit again.

I think O'Sheas has a 1-5 Spread Limit Hold'em in one of their tables right next to the entrance

I have not played this game (O'Shea's $1-5) myself but they just told me this game goes 7 days a week with a single $1 blind.

A single $1 blind!! I bet you can't play too tight in that game! I've seen this game going whenever I was just getting into poker but I mistakenly thought I could only play NL.

I played 2-6 spread in Tahoe. Lots of 3 and 4 dollar bets. A 6 dollar bet is tantamount to a check-raise.

Generally sl is located in areas that have bet caps, so running sl in vegas is pretty silly since it is dumb game. Live nl is not particularly fun but live sl has to be the most boring and pointless game ever.

From my experience, $2-6 & $2-10 are anything but boring.

"Yup, I think it's the only thing they spread"

They also have $1-2 NL.

7 tables now.

You seem like a big fan of spread limit. Do you prefer or consider it more fun than limit and no-limit? Do you like the 2-6 and 2-10 structure, or would you prefer a 2-20 or 2-30 structure?

I "learned" how to play poker profitably playing 1-3 spread limit at Turningstone back in 2001/2002. That was a great game, with a $2 capped rake. However, you're right, it wasn't really a 1-3 spread limit game as much as it was a 3/3 limit game. It played much larger than 2/4 limit plays, with half the rake.

I just started playing and the 2-8 was the only game they had at the Eurika Casino in Mesquite. We just came to Las Vegas and tried the 2-4 and 4-8 limit, but they are tough to get anybody off a hand. So far I like spread games a lot more. I would like a 2-10 now and then move up to bigger ones after my bankroll gets bigger. I have only played NL once live and that cost me my buy-in in one hand. In limit you can make mistakes and still be okay. I think the spread limit games is a good learning place for NL.

blinds would be $x-$1, it can't be $1-$2 because you're allowed to bet less than $2

Yeah, in Lake Charles they play 3-6 limit with a progressive $12 river bet. Some of the people act like you just told their grandmother her lemon meringue pie tastes like piss when you bet $12 instead of $6.
