Absolutely not. I would rather rail 1c/2c rather than play any part in trying to get Robert Williamson III to host/commentate on any kind of poker show.

what do you find more annoying, RW III's piss poor analysis, and constant changing of his mind about what he thinks the players are going to do, based on what they look like they're going to do. or david tuckman's just utter stupidness about everything, constantly asking ******ed questions like "Q7, that's the computer hand right, why is it called the computer hand robert?"

seriously, the people who produce these shows are just the absolute worst. they must have zero clue about their audience. i understand that they have to try and target the amateur that doesn't know ****, but the market for these shows is the player who has some sort of an idea about what's going on, and doesn't need the ******ed commentary.

They should try once RWIII and Chris Rose commenting a single episode . I would kill myself just reading the starting credits ; I can't even imagine with the sound on.

I hope not. He struck me as really out of touch with his comments and just totally not insightful at all. I would really prefer a lot less commentary during shows where there is good poker. I'm often annoyed because their elementary chatter blots out the players' conversation. This is one reason I didn't mind Benza's exit at all. This is something I like about PAD (as long as its a cash game because then you don't have the stupid sng and you're more likely to see interesting players).

Of course, poker does have its slow spots so you do need someone much better than Williamson imo. I'm really not that picky so you've got to really be annoying for me to even bother complaining about the poker commentary, but, well, I just have, so....

RWIII seems like a nice dude, got nothing against him personally and wish him the best, but wow his commentary is atrocious. He really seems like he doesn't understand Hold 'Em, at least in its modern form, and bugs me when he simply guesses over and over what someone will do instead of actually analyzing the whys and wherefores, ala Stapleton, who's my favorite right now.

He had 320K starting the hand and he just called the 100K on the flop with the nut flush draw. LOL.

Not really comparable since they do it live and Stapes and Rose do it in post production where the analysis is already finished and just needs to be presented.
That being said, many other British poker shows with Jesse May do it the same way, however, they manage to make the commentary insightful and more entertaining, since Jesse has co-commentators with actual poker knowledge most of the time.

I hope you understand that my poker knowledge is quite good, but when I'm the lead commentator, my job is to ask the questions that someone who might not know poker would ask.

I'm sorry to say, that poker experts are not necessarily our entire audience. We need to try and cater to everyone.

His commentary is not THAT bad, but yeah we all have heard him giving atrocious analisys. Only PH beats him there.

I dont really like Ike as a commentator, I think he is a great player and cool person. Just too much of a nerd to be entertaining. We need someone more balanced like Bart Hanson, half nerd, half entertaining commentator.

I am shocked to discover by reading this thead that some people not only can watch shows with his commentary without turning the sound off, but actually LIKE his commentary!?

If he'd die be4 his next commentary - and I would NOT be sad - his commentary would improve by quite a bit!
