I'm going to be playing there next week. I'll play in their $1/$3 FR NLHE games.

Any advice (the more specific the better) on the current games there and how best to beat them is MUCH appreciated!

lumieres is loads of fun. games are very basic and easy to make money. its comparable to playing a .05/.10cent nl cash game online. here are a few tricks to eating the players.

1. spot the donks (usually half of them at every table, who can be spotted after 10-15hands). There are two types. One half are usually tight players who think they are good but are scared to play a pot without a strong hand. it is those players that you want to bluff. then there are the super aggresive donks who bet/bluff at anything. this is where you make most of your money. top pair or big preflop pp's are usually good against them as they are willing to go all in with any flush/straight draws, and they'll bet huge with any pair.

2. tight play is usually the right play preflop. postflop bet out against the tight players and let the aggressive players bet into you.

3. facial expressions work well. exaggerate a scared face when you have monster hands and act strong when you bluff. they are really bad players and generally dont undderstand reverse psychology and will believe whatever you give em.

gl. just play a solid game, pinpoint donks, and play towards their weaknesses and youll be hitting the highstakes slots in no time.

When anyone over 50 bets there, fold. They have the nuts.

Watch for that guy at the table who will raise several hands and if they get to showdown, he'll flip over 6-4 offsuit to win with middle pair. Then isolate him next time he raises when you have a hand.

My impression was that the Lumiere was pretty soft, but they have some good players there, and some really tight players there.

If a guy named Tim bets, get out unless you have the nuts.

It isn't close to true saying when someone bets 50 they have a big hand. It goes either way. It all depends on the player.

Some really aggressive players bet 50 every flop (sometimes preflop!) so obviously they dont flop the nuts every hand.

In fact I would try to play as many hands as possible against people that are overbetting every pot, because those are the people that will double u up.

Excuse me, misread last post.

I agree, the older people are generally tighter so when they bet big they generally have a hand.

Apologies

Hi,

I play at Lumiere regularly. There are alot of fish. But there are also a handful of very dangerous players--some of whom look like fish. This latter concept cannot be overemphasized.

One important thing to remember there is that once you've crushed the bad players into handing you a nice deep stack, you need to realize that the whole thing is in play as the other deep stacks WILL tango with you. Now, fortunately there are some sub-par ultra-aggressive players who will accumulate a deep stack from time to time--so big wins are possible.

And if its the Tim I'm thinking of, if he's betting its time to put on your dancing shoes and go to town.

Drink lots of beer and don't forget to stop off at the craps table a few times.
