Using colors to improve your game? Using colors to improve your game?

I've read that specific colors can affect how your brain works. For example, green has a calming effect. Maybe that's why poker tables usually have green felts so players don't get furious so easily. Red increases aggression, while blue - productivity.

My poker sessions are usually very long (12 hours+ with just 2 breaks for meals and shower). At the moment, I mostly use black colors to reduce distractions and focus on the game. I was wondering if I could mod my poker set-up, i.e. table backgrounds, windows theme etc, to improve my game. By improving I mean tilting less and thinking faster.

What do you think?

couldn't hurt to try... it would depend on what site you play on and skin as well as to what mods you can do...... do some googling.. try it out and let us know what your thoughts are

i spent a lot of time trying to find the best table mods. like you said, very dark mods, minimalistic details and an all-black desktop background was good for focusing, but this is more concrete and logical than maybe what the difference between a green/blue mod might do.
however, i did find green tables a bit soothing

My initial impression was that a lot the effects would be placebo (but this doesn't necessarily matter), with a very small probably negligible component being an actual effect of the mind. But it can't hurt to try of course. Would be an interesting experiment regardless of results. I would say that being able to see the outside world would be nice, get some natural lighting involved... Vitamin D is good for yeah, and it sure is depressing being in a windowless cavern (cough casino's cough).

Tried this and seems to work. Most likely placebo, but either way its win win?
