Staying in Bed All Day After a Mega F Up Staying in Bed All Day After a Mega F Up

Very rarely I will have a session where I will f up epically and I hate myself afterwards. I will then sleep for 16 hours and basically never get out of bed the next day. Luckily I'm able to do this as I play full-time and can work my own hours. The next day I get up and slowly start to pick the pieces of my life back together. I will then gather the will to analyze what happened and look at it objectively (it's painful to do it), learn from the mistakes and get back into the grind.

I find that this "mourning" period helps me "recover" and get back on track.

Does anyone else do this?

Sometimes after a bad week or horrible session I take a day or two off and analyze my game and "reset"

Sometimes I will punish myself by working out or doing other +EV activites.

I don't see any EV in staying in bed all day though.

If it gets bad enough that I don't even want to play anymore, then I pretty much walk away for however long I need to. I refuse to play if I'm not having at least some fun.

No, but I still think it's relatively healthy to sleep in bed all day; it's much better than getting wasted or drunk. The night of a bad loss can be be pretty brutal with feelings of despair and depression, but the next day allows for a clarity upon reflection, and generally helps me understand and cope with a loss. Loss will happen, we must become masters of dealing with it as self made men/women.

That seems pretty excessive. If I were you, I'd look into why it takes you so long to recover from a mistake when everyone makes them?

Not really. I bike 10-12miles every other day and hit the gym 3-4 days a week. It doens't improve my mood over bad beats or bad sessions.

Perhaps doing that is only preventing you from feeling worst then you normally would've. Had you not done it.

Since you cannot see an improvement. Your assuming it doesn't help at all.

Holy ****, I just did this... First time ever. I had a 4 week winning streak (20+ winning sessions in a row) with resulted in more than doubling my bank roll. Yesterday I was exhausted, but wanted to grind up a few hundred in $1/2 live, I succeeded, but then through utterly bad playing, I was up only $25 dollars, at this point, I was exhausted and just felt like ****. I left the casino, got through the day and night.

I then proceeded to sleep for about 14 hours, and took a multi-hour nap after waking and eating.

Lol. Poker can be hard on you physically/mentally/emotionally, huh! Part of the reason I slept so much is that I had very little sleep in the last few days, and I ate like a complete pig after my abysmal session yesterday: Doughnuts, pizza and a double bacon cheeseburger.

I've not eaten like that in months.
