Losing after a winning streak. Losing after a winning streak.

I think this happens to a lot of players.

After playing good for awhile, and leading...I get over confident and start losing money by bluffing too much and just getting way too comfortable...

I guess I will just discipline myself more in the future somehow lol.

Im curious if someone else is experiencing this same problem, if so what do you do?

I think I still attribute a lot of my good runs to skill more than the way the cards are going, when when things turn around I start to question my plays more. For a day or two you can't make a wrong decision, people fold to cbets, people 3b you when you raise with your monsters etc, and you think that's how it should be. As soon as all the crap starts coming, I think you just need to accept that that's the way it goes and try not to change too much when your luck changes.

You mentioned getting fancy when you were winning, that's the same kind of idea but at the other end of the spectrum so if you can cut that out too and just try to play the same game irrespective of how things are going, I'll think you'll be better prepared psychologically.

It's certainly something I believe in but havn't quite got my head around yet, since with winning always comes that 'I've learned poker' mindset, and I still get the 'what have I changed' when I drop a few buyins and get into some trickier spots.

Ive definitely had it where I get overly cocky after winning a ton and then I make stupid call downs or really bad 3 barrels cuz I think Im the **** which ends up with me living in suck town again. I think its farealy common for a lot of poker players.

Yeah... it is. I just wonder if anyone has a sure way of preventing or atleast making the affect less.

I have the guaranteed-to-work, 100% sure-fire KO way you can do this:

Experience.

Lesson in this post: There is no substitute i.e., "get-rich-quick"ish way around this.

This is pretty standard i think. I always start playing kinda weak after a solid winning streak to prevent spewing.

No one is trying to get rich quick here.

With this thread I was trying to gain experience.

This would be variance. But you do mention you play bad after getting to cocky in your skills. Just play like you normally play and not cocky.
